They were told this by our crack medical staff?
-
Well, I guess it's good they finally diagnosed the issue...I guess... I hope our crack medical staff didn't miss something earlier... -
As far as 'fire' goes, the team's overall attitude seems good. They've had some adversity and some stretches where they've looked awful but they've been resilient. The only issue I can see so far is the sloppiness on the basepaths that's been mentioned. It would be very nice if they could stop giving away so many outs there.
-
Can you hear that sound? I think it's... Rolling Thunder!
-
To add to that, our offense was not very good in 2014 or 2015 even with Ortiz.
-
Sounds about right.
-
I place the Hanley outfield experiment at the feet of Benny Boy. I sometimes wonder if that had a lot to do with him being replaced.
-
OTOH it's kind of nice to know he's going to have more PA's than anyone else. I see where Maddon just moved Rizzo to the leadoff spot.

These last few posts should be in the Farrell thread...including mine.

Lurking like buzzards on a fence!

Jackie B. Goode.

You're basically talking about Chapman and Miller, right?
-
To paraphrase Gollum in the Hobbit: 'Yankees...we hates it forever!' But Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner do deserve a lot of praise for the way they've handled things in recent years. I can't praise them for the first Chapman trade though. Good baseball move but questionable ethics there.
-
Good call.
-
Huh. Well, this isn't the Farrell thread, but you should chime in there.
-
Why so stupid - I really like that. This team seems to make an extraordinary number of unnecessary outs on the basepaths.
-
Put it this way: their return this year is so uncertain that you might as well forget about them.
-
Yet you're so concerned that the 2017 Sox have 'no fire' that you want to dump the manager because of it?
-
Yes.
-
I get the lack of fundamentals part but not the no fire part.
-
Good info, thanks harmony.

Advancing to third with one out increases the chances of the runner scoring because they can score without a hit. However, I don't think trying to steal third there is a good move unless there's a virtual certainty of making it.
-
What issues do you have with his managing so far this year?
-
Personally I think all this 'walk off' stuff is pretty stupid. For one thing, you can only 'walk off' if you're playing at home. I think the actual expression originated from Eck, but he was talking about the pitcher who gave up the winning hit making the sad and lonely walk off the mound.

Nice swing by Vazquez too.
