To paraphrase Gollum in the Hobbit: 'Yankees...we hates it forever!' But Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner do deserve a lot of praise for the way they've handled things in recent years. I can't praise them for the first Chapman trade though. Good baseball move but questionable ethics there.

Advancing to third with one out increases the chances of the runner scoring because they can score without a hit. However, I don't think trying to steal third there is a good move unless there's a virtual certainty of making it.

Personally I think all this 'walk off' stuff is pretty stupid. For one thing, you can only 'walk off' if you're playing at home. I think the actual expression originated from Eck, but he was talking about the pitcher who gave up the winning hit making the sad and lonely walk off the mound.

I think it goes both ways. Keith Law is not the only metrics expert who makes statements like 'everything you thought you knew about baseball is wrong'. That automatically creates resistance in the person who's being addressed. As harmony put it, it's a sanctimonious way of talking.

With Pablo you can use eye test, fielding % or advanced metrics and in all cases it comes out Suck.

By no means the worst pitcher in Red Sox pitcher, but probably the most star-crossed would be our old pal Bob Stanley. Poor Bob factored in two of the most crushing losses in franchise history, the 1978 playoff game and 1986 WS Game 6. -
A higher than normal rate of errors can certainly have an impact on defensive WAR.

I agree. And the condescension implied in that sentence is exactly what ticks off a lot of old-schoolers about the 'new metrics'.
