  1. Let's have a 'bonehead log' for the rest of the year on this thread, then.
  2. It's too late to have a 'bonehead log' for this season, obviously, but we could have one for the rest of the season, in the Farrell thread.
  3. You're just noticing this about baseball?
  4. I think Mookie is going to start raking and show what he's all about during this stretch run.
  5. A 52.6 career bWAR isn't so bad.
  6. I do believe old Max is putting us on sometimes.
  7. No one knows where Hurricane Jose is going to hit yet.
  8. Cleveland is first overall right now. If the season ended today wildcard winner would play them.
  9. Chris Sale certainly has fire and desire.
  10. I think the true test of the 'fire and desire' will come in the games ahead.
  11. Pedroia has a fWAR of 2.1 in 92 games. He's not that easily replaced. His defense is still stellar.
  12. I'm pretty much in the same boat as Max. I think Farrell should be judged on the team's final performance this year. I get all the stuff about bonehead mistakes, but I don't think they should be the determining factor. My biggest concern about Farrell is the motivational factor. I'm not sure whether the players like playing for him or whether they're playing their hardest for him or not.
  13. Maybe. But that's a long way from saying he didn't show any power last year.
  14. Overall the team's defense is up there among the leaders in some categories. That would suggest that in spite of the occasional bonehead play, the team is generally well focused in the field.
  15. First of all, I will admit that I don't know very much about ISO yet. But I do know about SLG. Bogaerts' 2016 SLG of .446 was well above the MLB average, and it was very close to the MLB average #3 and #4 hitter. The 2016 MLB average SLG for a #4 hitter was .466. Here is how Bogaerts 2016 numbers compare to the MLB average #4: Bogaerts 294/356/446 802 Average 260/333/466 799 Maybe your standards are just too high.
  16. I thought we would beat Cleveland last year.
  17. It baffles me that you can say 'he's never shown much power' when he had 21 home runs in his age 23 season.
  18. No. Stolen bases are a plus, caught stealings are a minus...success % is important.
  19. No. Kimmi has indicated the studies show the 3 spot is the least important of the top 5 spots, but not the least important of the entire order.
  20. At 62.1 innings, Barnes has been used a lot, but not overused.
  21. 2014 was a Letdown Year after winning it all. 2016 was a Special Year because it was Papi's final season. I'm joking...I don't really think the explanations are that simple.
  22. Trading that much for Quintana might have been a mistake too. He's not really pitching that well this year.
  23. Like I said on the Farrell thread, if you're POTUS or manager of the Red Sox, you are guaranteed to take a lot of abuse.
  24. And you left out Truman - that guy was a major a-hole, wasn't he? Nicely done though.
