  1. Can't seem to find that data. Most of our bonehead plays this year have been on the basepaths. I'm just trying to address your question about the unearned runs. Generally speaking unearned runs will have a pretty high correlation to errors, but there will be some randomness. Most errors lead to no unearned runs. But one error can lead to 5 unearned runs.
  2. We may be a top 3 defense, but we've allowed the 5th most errors.
  3. Not necessarily weird, since unearned runs are only based on errors, which are now recognized as only one component of defense.
  4. Yes and no. Stanton's AAV is 25 million. So it might mean we wouldn't be able to extend Mookie. But maybe Mookie wants to go to free agency anyway. I don't think a trade for Stanton is a realistic possibility, it's just message board fodder. I can't see the Marlins trading him to us unless they get Benintendi or Devers back. A straight salary dump by the Marlins makes no sense. If they're in that bad of a shape the franchise is doomed anyway.
  5. Are these statements based on actual historical data?
  6. Good solid points there Nick.
  7. My guess would be yes.
  8. Because Wins Above Replacement is a whole different concept. It tries to measure actual performance eliminating luck factors. It's actually Runs Above Replacement, converted to Wins to make it a little easier to compare players.
  9. He's made all his starts since July 17. My analytical take is cross your fingers.
  10. Hmm...I have checked, double-checked, and triple-checked, and I still have 749 minus 620 coming out to 129.
  11. E-Rod is having a fine September.
  12. Chicks dig the walk.
  13. 1) Agreed about the Shaw-Thornburg trade. 2) I guess you mean because Smith has been injured. If he was healthy it was a clear win. And Miley has been horrible. 3) They were planning on getting Price to bolster the rotation so why not get the closer first. Doesn't really matter what order you do things in.
  14. You don't really deserve to be ahead by 15 games with a run differential of about 130.
  15. I think that would have been a waste. Instead of which he helped us win a game last night.
  16. When I say mostly I mean I think that's where most of the increase in other teams' numbers has come from.
  17. Personally I think whatever injury issues Hanley has had this year have been the 'nagging' kind. If he had anything serious he wouldn't be playing as much as he has. And he can still pound the ball when he does connect. I actually like Hanley in spite of it all.
  18. Oh man.
  19. I think it would have been extremely hard to trade Hanley regardless. An aging DH with erratic numbers and recurring injury issues and that stupid vesting option.
  20. That begs the question of how did so many other offenses improve while ours didn't. Mostly because of the home run ball, methinks.
  21. Some chicks actually HATE the long ball.
  22. Well, it made sense from the perspective of trying to win both the games.
  23. It looks like we're going to be playing Houston - a lot - 4 games to end the season and then the ALDS.
  24. I deleted that post because I couldn't get JD to come out in all caps LOL
  25. Either way, it seems we're going to have to pay him for one year in which he stinks!
