I'll have to agree with moon on this one. Martinez yes, Hosmer no. Hosmer is a good player but not a $20 million player. The money would be better spent on pitching.

He actually had a +8 UZR/150 for left field in 2016, although advanced metrics for Fenway's left field seem to be a little unreliable.

You're right about us being spoiled. As for feeder programs, that's what the poor Expos were for years before they moved to Washington. Now I think things are better and just about every team has a shot. But teams like us and the Yanks still have a hefty payroll advantage, that's for sure.

Whether or not Jeter deserves flak for the Stanton trade, he is off to a dismal start in his ownership career, appearance-wise at least. Not sure what he was thinking stepping into this cesspool of a franchise.

Sandy Leon is a cheap, perfectly adequate backup catcher. I don't know what some people are expecting in that position.

That's actually a pretty solid guess, I think. He may have been freaking out at the prospect that a 911 call would cost him his job with the Red Sox. With good cause, as we can see. None of which exonerates him in the least if what he did constituted an assault, needless to say.

Don't be a sanctimonious preacher. The statement issued by the family describes it as a verbal argument. Even if Spudboy's statement wasn't 100.00% accurate, he certainly wasn't trying to 'spread misinformation'. This is a baseball message board and a lot of mistakes are made...expecting perfectly reliable information here wouldn't be very bright.
