  1. On offense, Sandy's floor is the sub-basement.
  2. But if you're talking strictly offense, you can't have a much lower floor than Sandy.
  3. It might be an excellent contract too. Every possibility is in play. There is so much rumor and speculation floating around out there about the Sox plans...but it wouldn't be the offseason if there wasn't.
  4. It's so easy to forget how young he is - just turned 22.
  5. If you didn't like them re-signing Pearce and Eovaldi, I don't know what to tell ya.
  6. It's hard to say. Because he is essentially a DH. And it does seem like the stat geeks are influencing front offices to a certain degree.
  7. Based on the expectations from his last 2 seasons, a .900 OPS would be an off year.
  8. But the way teams go through pitchers, he MIGHT be needed. Hang onto him unless you can really get something worthwhile back.
  9. And Rays fans are so excited about the developments that attendance should only drop by 10% this year!
  10. LOL That's awful...but funny.
  11. Quite honestly the team will be better off long term if some guys have slight off-years in 2019 (as long as we still win the division). If JDM has a slight off-year it reduces the chances he opts out. And so on.
  12. Certainly possible. You can't get much better.
  13. One thing's for sure, Beni is not going to replicate the .438 OBP Mookie put up this year. If Beni can do .366 again I guess that will be sufficient.
  14. Well I agree. If you're a team on the upswing, you're not trading one of your studs.
  15. Why dwarf? Sale was under 3 years of control at a pretty cheap rate. Why would Thor be that much more valuable? He'll be getting paid too.
  16. Personally I was quite happy with Mookie in the leadoff spot. The more Mookie the better, was my way of thinking. But I'm looking forward to see how things go with Beni in that spot and Mookie in the 2 slot. It should be another source of lively discussion on the game threads.
  17. Ha ha...couldn't miss another chance for a 'lineup' comment, could ya?
  18. I'm not convinced that DD has decided not to spend another nickel on the bullpen...I'll believe it if I see it on Opening Day. There's another story floating around that the Sox are still in contact with Kimbrel, after all...
  19. For the regular season, there's no question that Mookie had the better numbers. Now if you throw in the postseason, the comparison gets more interesting. 2018 postseason OPS JDM .923 Betts .623 JD continued to be the same consistent force throughout the playoffs, while Mookie struggled.
  20. I would agree that Betts and JDM are close enough that you could have an argument over who is the better hitter.
  21. 5 merit points for you. 5 demerits for notin.
  22. I'll never understand why fans get so worked up about the lineup. The manager can handle it.
  23. Pretty cool that the guy got a ring.
  24. Swihart and Johnson would be mere throw-ins in a deal for Wheeler.
