Possibly. They might lose them both too. There are plenty of scenarios and I'm sure DD and the front office have given them all a lot of consideration. Both DD and Cora have raved about Eovaldi. They placed a bet on him.

For me it's not so much about not touching Vazquez and Leon. It's just that Cervelli is an expensive option and only for one year. Do we really need an offensive upgrade at catcher this year that badly?

Apparently the Yankees didn't even make a formal offer to Corbin once they heard he was looking for 'Darvish money'. Some Yankee fans are freaking out because they think Hal plans to be cheap again. We shall see.

Personally I love it. Not just for the player but for this team's continued commitment to spend and put strong teams on the field.

Less likely, in the short term, IMO. A player of his caliber in prime years is worth more than the 35 million he'll likely be paid. In later years it'll be an overpay.

Assuming they do sign Eovaldi, I think they will probably make a bid to keep one of Sale or Porcello.

OK, that's enough of the off into the sunset stuff. Dombrowski is 6 months younger than me, he's a lifetime baseball man and he's got a phenomenally good job. My guess is he'll be willing to stick around as long as John Henry does. The future of ownership is the real wild card for this franchise. JH turns 70 in 2019 and has a much younger wife and 3 children.
