  1. If CWS and PHI are willing to go 10 years, don't you think they'd also be willing to give him an opt out?
  2. You are a fearless prognosticator!
  3. Devers has a better K/BB ratio though. His is about 3/1, whereas WMB's was about 5/1.
  4. I don't need a twitch test. I already know I'm very twitchy.
  5. That's for sure.
  6. We're in no position to be aggressive. Our payroll is already through the roof and our farm is depleted. But we have one hell of a team lined up for 2019. Our stars are all still in prime years. The 2013 team was much more veteran-centric. Really very dissimilar to the 2018 team.
  7. It's pretty hard to improve on a 119-57 season anyway.
  8. Paxton is an upgrade if healthy, that's for sure.
  9. Producing your own superstars is pretty rare, and when it does happen, it's generally because of a very high draft pick-or blind luck. Mookie Betts was blind luck, because there were innumerable opportunities for other teams to grab him before we did.
  10. Sure, they're only potential improvements. They're certainly attempted improvements. I'm just not sure why dgalehouse spoke as if we haven't done anything yet this offseason.
  11. I'm easy to please. I love how all those moves worked out for us this year.
  12. It's going to be interesting indeed if the Yankees sign him. Especially after Hal Steinbrenner has gone on record that the 'Johnny Hustle' comments are 'troubling' and 'that ain't going to sell where we play baseball'.
  13. That rule would really trim the present Hall from what it is.
  14. Yeah, I have to agree. The guy has ALWAYS had huge problems staying on the field. The Jays took the risk he might be able to stay healthy for them, and man did they pay for it.
  15. I suppose it's possible that Manny may outgrow his antics. But it's not a good sign, to put it mildly, that he had such a flurry of incidents after being traded to the Dodgers this year, being in the national limelight and, in theory, showcasing himself for the free agent market. It makes you wonder if he's got some serious and fundamental psychological/emotional issues that might actually get worse.
  16. You don't think having Eovaldi and Pearce for a full season counts as improvements? The only area of question for us is the bullpen, and that will also be addressed.
  17. 4. There are a lot of dumb people.
  18. Giving up one run in the sixth inning would still put you ahead in moon's scenario.
  19. And you've ignored my point about the fact that players who outperform their salaries don't get anything extra for it. A system where players get paid based on their performance just wouldn't work. If you think it through you can see some of the reasons why.
  20. A Yankee forum. But it appears no one really has a clue what her tweet is about yet.
  21. Yankee fans speculating it means David Robertson is signing with Sox?
  22. Some stars live up to expectations and some don't.
  23. I prefer bacon-wrapped scallops.
  24. Remember Cliff Lee? The Yanks were pretty surprised he chose Philly over them.
  25. Not exactly. In 38 games for us in 2004: 321/367/500 5 HR 21 RBI
