  1. Oh, I have the utmost confidence in Mookie, Cora and the hitting instructors, including J D Martinez.
  2. My bad. I failed to do my research.
  3. One thing to be noted about Bummer is that a big chunk of that missed time was due to an off-field injury which had nothing to do with his arm.
  4. Personally I think expecting him to improve on 346/438/640 is dreamtime.
  5. Personally I think Loria was pretty much a sleazeball, but I thought the Stanton contract made sense for them. The only option was just letting him walk away.
  6. Tulo's dreams of being an everyday shortstop again certainly look a little fuzzy LOL
  7. Sure. Can't have it both ways, right? They did manage to trade him and maybe should have gotten more back.
  8. But the fact you did it without adding Harper or Machado? And you might still be signing Ottavino or another reliever.
  9. Also worth noting that the Yankees are now projected to be over the first threshold by about 5 mill without any further additions.
  10. As moon says, it enabled them to keep him for a few years. It was just about the only way they could.
  11. It would be kind of nice, I guess, if Machado ends up way short of what he was expecting. It was reported he came into the offseason thinking he might get more than Stanton's 325 million. I think his somewhat bizarre antics with the Dodgers hurt him in the wallet after all.
  12. Dombrowski may have calculated that there would be some bargains on relievers come February, somewhat like Moustakas last year.
  13. It's a little different. The Yankees signed him for minimum wage about a week ago. What would have happened since then? Give me some logic here.
  14. Why would they give up on Tulowitzki already?
  15. With Jeter just under the wire at a mere 189 mill.
  16. The interesting question, of course is, did the Sox play super-nice here to enhance the chances of him signing an extension?
  17. Being MVP will do that.
  18. Sox avoid arbitration with Mookie. He gets the nice round number of $20 mill. A record for a second-year arb player.
  19. Perhaps worth noting is that the Stanton contract was actually designed by Loria to be traded.
  20. But Kimmi is right that the odds are that if someone has such bad judgment as to throw away 200 mill, they're probably going to throw away 220 mill if they had it.
  21. True. And I can't believe the Yanks still insist on their players being clean-shaven. It's getting a little weird.
  22. It does seem possible at this point, especially after his comments about Kimbrel.
  23. It's extremely hard to repeat, that's for sure. It certainly looks like the Red Sox, Yankees and Astros are going to be the iron again.
  24. That's certainly a valid question.
