  1. The vast majority of the Sox fans here have never used the term 'play in' game. Now that's a fact.
  2. When last seen, Steve Pearce was hitting the piss out of quite a few baseballs himself...
  3. You're awfully sensitive about the Yanks being in all those Wild Card games. If the Sox end up in a Wild Card game this year, we'll call it a play-in game, OK? Hopefully that clears this up.
  4. There are significant injury risks with both of our rotations.
  5. BillyBabe is so predictable. He sort of wants to talk about baseball, but he can't resist being a jerky troll for long. Eventually he gets himself banned again.
  6. I just can't imagine what it feels like to think about giving up $3 mill a year. I am guessing part of what happens is that other people, including agent, family, friends get the player's ear and suggest they should take as much money as they can get. One other thing I will say, and take it for what it's worth, but some folks who have made a lot of money in sports have gone on to blow a lot of it through bad investments, scams, gambling et cetera (Curt Schilling). Some have dreams of acquiring shares in sports franchises. Crazy as it seems, even these huge sums of money are not necessarily immune from being spent or lost.
  7. True, but for the average person it's a matter of thousands. For these people it's a matter of millions.
  8. Easy man, you're going to tie the poor guy in knots.
  9. I said some people call the new Wild Card games 'play in' games. I don't know why you're trying to make such a big deal out of it, other than to troll. My original post was about one run deciding a season.
  10. Bird has only played 176 games and has only mustered a .736 OPS despite being a lefty supposed power hitter playing in the Stadium. Here is where YOUR rose-colored specs really show.
  11. So the projections are basically dead even.
  12. Man, you're like Rodney Dangerfield tonight.
  13. Stop worrying about that stuff. If JH's and DD's decision is to sign Kimbrel, so be it.
  14. You were saying 'bank it' or similar words of certainty about some things last year too. If you keep doing that, of course, sometimes you'll be right.
  15. It was a playoff because the 2 teams tied for the division lead. Completely different from the current Wild Card games that are called 'play in' games by some. You already know all this, you're just being a snarky jackass as per usual.
  16. No, you didn't think that, Billy. Some of the posters here call the current Wild Card games play-in games, that much is true.
  17. Yeah, and we lost the 1978 playoff game by 1 run and 2003 ALCS Game 7 by 1 run. A whole season can be decided by 1 run, that's baseball.
  18. When he gets this excited, some confusion comes along with it.
  19. Hard to know what to believe, but the consensus in the rumor mill seems to be that the White Sox have made the only formal offer to Machado, and it's 'closer to 200 million than to 300 million'.
  20. White Sox sign Jon Jay, a friend of Machado's he works out with in the offseason.
  21. If the Yanks get Machado, they will be faves. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.
  22. The Red Sox have the highest average ticket prices in baseball, so they're certainly not running a charity, right?
  23. Herrera signs with White Sox 2/18. Another reliever off the board.
  24. Yes. And I certainly agree that Sandoval and Pedroia are not major obstacles when John Henry is willing to spend as if there was no dead money on the books.
