  1. And I always thought you were a parade guy...
  2. Hendu also knocked in the winning run in that Game 5 on a sac fly. And then hit what would have been one of the other biggest HR in Sox history if we had won WS Game 6.
  3. I don't think the Red Sox insure any of their contracts, because the premiums, of course, are exorbitant, as they should be.
  4. What was the year you first wanted him gone?
  5. I'm afraid this injury snuffed Pedroia's chances for the HOF.
  6. Well, we saw what happened with Kinsler when he made the error in Game 3 of last year's WS. Fortunately for him it became a footnote.
  7. Jackie Smith was another one. And Donnie Moore.
  8. And if Marco gets called up and starts out 1 for 15, the enthusiasm for his presence on the team will quickly dim.
  9. Sports fans in general have the mentality of self-centered, coldhearted, miserable, hateful pricks. They want their thrills and their championships and they really don't give a crap about anything else.
  10. That's when they should have been gotten rid of at the exact point in time when their value was highest!
  11. Pearce is starting to hit. You might miss him later if he's gone.
  12. To give up a full season of Betts is also asinine, Nick. You can trade him at the deadline if you're out of it.
  13. That's just one side of the equation. Owners need the revenue side too. The fans are revenue and fans want good players and wins. And good players are extremely expensive. The San Diego Padres needed wins and fans so they shelled out ridiculous contracts to Hosmer and Machado.
  14. The only way the Sox trade Betts is at the 2020 deadline if they're out of it. As they did with Lester.
  15. This is the only fair way to answer the OP question.
  16. It's natural that sometimes there will be conflicts between the interests of a union as a group, and the interests of one of the members as an individual. From a union's perspective, the group has to take precedence.
  17. What Pedroia signed in 2013 was actually a 6 year extension to an existing contract that was due to expire at the end of 2021. If you want to call it 8 years, then by the same token you have to call Sale's 6 years and Bogey's 7 years.
  18. This is the third thread started.
  19. If injury fears stopped the Red Sox from giving out long term contracts, the extensions with Sale and Bogey would not have taken place.
  20. It's a good joke, but being picky, I would have gone with his real age of 22.
  21. Pedroia has been placed on the 60-day IL.
