  1. I guess it depends what benchmark you're using. Mine is runs scored, and they're way up, due to all the home run balls.
  2. I'll say this, jung is not wrong about the rocket ball. And it's obvious by now that Manfred knows it's a rocket ball and approves of it.
  3. Your scoring system is a valiant effort, but probably needs a tweak or two. For one thing counting Velazquez as a starter there might be wrong. That was arguably a bullpen game. The other question that arises is how what results would this system produce if you applied it to other teams? My sense is that bullpens have a fairly large built-in advantage. The starter is one guy, the bullpen is a team of 7-8 guys.
  4. So you're a typical loyal baseball fan. (Just messing with you, Tyler.)
  5. Well at least we're hitting right?
  6. Speak of the devil (Ray), I think d'Arnaud had the game of his career today.
  7. That wouldn't hurt. Although he really wasn't himself in last year's postseason, either.
  8. If we make it to the LDS series with the Yanks I think we certainly have a chance to beat them. You just have to win 3 damn games before they do.
  9. The Yankees' bullpen has actually pitched a higher % of their innings (44%) than the Red Sox bullpen has (43%).
  10. Well, adding a good reliever is not going to hurt anything. We know that our starters can do better than they have. Not sure we can say the same about the relievers.
  11. That's dreadful. All the best to him.
  12. Which folks said that? It wasn't me. I'm not saying anything is better than ever, just that it's probably not worse than ever either. I do happen to agree with you about the travesty of the rocket ball.
  13. He's leading the AL in total bases.
  14. I find when people talk about how much better pitching was in the past, they're talking about Sandy Koufax and Bob Gibson-as if they typified the pitchers of their era.
  15. It's just silly to say Dickey was complete garbage for the Jays.
  16. Nicely done. I only wish I had predicted the streak would be broken tonight.
  17. The only good thing is, the issue Eovaldi had this year (loose cartilage or whatever it was) was the same one he had last year and recovered from nicely. But of course this year he also had the dreaded 'setback' with a bicep strain or something.
  18. Those are fair points. 'Haters' was over the top, admittedly.
  19. Leon has been catching Sale ever since Swihart was removed, and lately Sale hasn't had great results with Leon either.
  20. I think there's a fine line, and it's an important one. You don't see many guys get congratulated for striking out. You might see them an encouraging pat which signifies 'Don't get down, keep your head up', that sort of thing. That is support but it's not congratulations.
  21. It's no better than Francoma. Yeah, it's just great to have cleverly insulting nicknames for managers who guide the team to World Series championships.
