  1. It's just silly to say Dickey was complete garbage for the Jays.
  2. Nicely done. I only wish I had predicted the streak would be broken tonight.
  3. The only good thing is, the issue Eovaldi had this year (loose cartilage or whatever it was) was the same one he had last year and recovered from nicely. But of course this year he also had the dreaded 'setback' with a bicep strain or something.
  4. Those are fair points. 'Haters' was over the top, admittedly.
  5. Leon has been catching Sale ever since Swihart was removed, and lately Sale hasn't had great results with Leon either.
  6. I think there's a fine line, and it's an important one. You don't see many guys get congratulated for striking out. You might see them an encouraging pat which signifies 'Don't get down, keep your head up', that sort of thing. That is support but it's not congratulations.
  7. It's no better than Francoma. Yeah, it's just great to have cleverly insulting nicknames for managers who guide the team to World Series championships.
  8. Getting a halfway reliable 5th starter would be a plus for the team though-especially where we know Eovaldi is going to the pen.
  9. I have argued myself that David Ortiz was a clutch hitter. But I would also admit that it's very hard to prove. David had plenty of playoff series where he didn't do very much, and I'm sure he was just as psyched in those series as he was in the ones where he hit well. The thing about hitting is that you're at the mercy of the pitcher and the defense to a large degree. They always have a big advantage over you.
  10. I agree. Unfortunately I didn't see it either.
  11. I don't know, danny. In that situation a sac fly was an unsuccessful play. It was not what the hitter was trying to do, or should have been trying to do. I can see supporting, but not celebrating. I think there's a big difference between the two.
  12. Very true Dewey.
  13. Cora has been trying everything with Sale and not much has worked. In the first half of 2018 Sale pitched great whether it was on 4 days rest or 5-6 days rest. He really hasn't been the same guy since then. And he hasn't been pitching that well with Leon behind the plate recently either. It's not Cora's fault. Sale just hasn't been right.
  14. Joe Kelly, huh? Kelly can be awful at times but when he has his command he can also be very tough. In the 2018 postseason against the Yankees, Astros and Dodgers, Kelly threw 11.1 innings with 13 K's and NO WALKS.
  15. Workman's got some crazy numbers. 12.5 K per 9 6.5 BB per 9 3.2 H per 9 He's keeping the ball in the park, with only 1 HR allowed in 39 IP.
  16. You're not making much sense. If a pitcher gets a guy to swing and miss at a pitch that finishes out of the zone that's a good pitch by the pitcher, and it always was.
  17. I think he's great too. Haters gonna hate. Did you know he has a book coming out about the 2018 season? Remdawg also has a book coming out or already out.
  18. a. Hembree hasn't pitched in a real game since June 10 so you can understand a little trepidation making that his welcome back. b. Our pen is Russian Roulette no matter what you do.
  19. For a more recent example, a guy who could throw an amazing curveball when he was at his best was Josh Beckett.
  20. I think it was Verlander who first complained that the balls were different. That was a while back now, it might have been 2017.
  21. Now that's Recency Effect.
  22. You do realize that there are more strikeouts now than ever?
  23. He's as hot as the hinges of Hades.
  24. I think it's a combo of the two. He has a nagging-type injury and it's affecting his hitting.
  25. Let's hope Eovaldi doesn't become the next Carl "American Idle" Pavano.
