  1. Most people just look at it as DD replacing Ben as de facto decision maker - rightly so, I would say.
  2. Wally Joyner - in his rookie season no less. The knife only grazed him, fortunately.
  3. I think there have been some trades where the acquiring team was given a time window to negotiate an extension. The window was 48 hours I think?
  4. Trivia question for you, Slash. Can you name the player who had a bowie knife thrown at him in Yankee Stadium in 1986?
  5. The crazy thing is, it wouldn't surprise me at all if some of Price's issues really were caused by that.
  6. Quite honestly I'd settle for 2 out of 3.
  7. Dangerous Dan made all these points in his article in yesterday's column in the Globe as well.
  8. I am also opposed to voting for one's own post.
  9. Kind of a tenuous correlation. We're talking about a potential 10 year, 350 million investment to win a bidding war for him. That will be a large and difficult decision either way, and not one that I think will be influenced much by our currently weak farm.
  10. True, but OTOH he had a quarter billion to spend on Pablo, Hanley and Rusney.
  11. The point is, when we consider Ben's success at building the farm, I think Moncada belongs in a separate category. He was a $63 million outlay that not many teams would have been able to make.
  12. There were several others too. The posting system for international players was another thing that favored the big money teams like us, and it's gone now.
  13. Except there aren't a lot that cost $63 million to acquire.
  14. You could even make a pretty good case that Moncada was more like a free agent signing, similar to Castillo, except a hit instead of a miss.
  15. It's OK for us armchair GM's to be wrong on stuff, Slash. It's a different story for the real ones.
  16. Ben did a great job signing Moncada, but let's not forget that was a bidding system and the Red Sox paid 63 million for him. I don't think that system exists anymore.
  17. You left out Castillo.
  18. Stanton looks like an albatross in the making. The guy can't stay healthy.
  19. Boone and Ottavino are taking their lumps from the Yankee faithful on their forum. The negativity there is actually mind-boggling.
  20. The opt out/in date for JD is 5 days after the WS ends.
  21. Yes, he turned down 8 years and 200 million. But that is likely only 60-65% of what he eventually gets.
  22. I understand the sentiment 100%. Adding to it is the fact that Harper turned down a totally legit offer from the Nats.
  23. You may have noticed that some posters on this forum find the fact that our rankings sank to the bottom meaningful too. Maybe you've seen the word 'decimated' a time or too?
