  1. You Magoo'd in post #35.
  2. I say no too. But 11 mill is not a big overpay IMO.
  3. FanGraphs projects 2.1 WAR, which would equate to a dollar value of about 17 million.
  4. FanGraphs and the trade simulator don't seem to think so.
  5. Personally I think Bloom knows what he's doing with this kind of stuff. He might rate JBJ higher than some of the posters here.
  6. His 2020 projected fWAR is 2.1. One-year defensive ratings are known to be unreliable. Relax.
  7. But if they trade Mookie and get under the $208 mill, there's no big issue with keeping JBJ, is there?
  8. There will be no Wil Myers in Fort Myers.
  9. Anybody think maybe the Sox FO leaked Mookie's $420 mill ask to make fans more accepting of the trade?
  10. A staredown between the master Friedman and the apprentice Bloom?
  11. moon doesn't like any trade ideas that have less than 7 names involved.
  12. It'll be Mookiewood. I honestly believe if the Dodgers do trade for Mookie they are a threat to sign him to an extension.
  13. No doubt. That's a heapin' helpin' of savings.
  14. The rabidity of the Red Sox fanbase is more variable now than it once was.
  15. I know, I was just pointing out the insane difference in the money.
  16. Yeah, I always get a chuckle when someone says something like that. The best is when something is described as 'unacceptable'.
  17. Willie Mays made 1.825 million dollars in his career.
  18. I wonder if Mookie would accept some deferred money like Sale did.
  19. But Slasher also said the Sox should hand Mookie a blank contract and let him fill it in.
  20. Manny's contract was one of the big exceptions, no question.
  21. He's been worth the money so far, but let's acknowledge that the risk factor is crazy. Mike Trout had a foot problem that shelved him for the last part of the 2019 season. If that foot becomes a chronic issue, even Trout will be underwater. (Sorry.)
  22. Plus some of us will be dead by the time Year 11 rolls around. Good thinking.
  23. Well, yeah, coming back from down 7-0 in an elimination game against the Rays was right up there. Too bad about that Game 7.
  24. I honestly think it's going to take more than $350 now.
  25. Even at this level of mad money, there has to be a point that can be defined as greedy.
