  1. If he's healthy he's definitely worth a look.
  2. No chance. He's all over Manfred's official report. The only reason he isn't suspended yet is they're waiting till the Red Sox investigation is over.
  3. When asked if he expected Mookie Betts to be on the Red Sox Opening Day roster, Bloom said, 'That's really been my expectation all along'. But he went on to say that he wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't open to anything that would improve the team's chances over the next decade. So it was a nicely balanced answer.
  4. They're obviously doing this to appease some of their customers, which is understandable. But they might be opening Pandora's Box, especially if more teams get outed for cheating.
  5. Plus Sam Kennedy just acknowledged that ticket sales are down. Even without all that, the chances of trading Devers were less than zero.
  6. Well, the pen was pretty right-centric last year. That's all I got. I wouldn't even have known all these new guys were lefties until you pointed it out.
  7. They can likely only do one.
  8. Tom Verducci: The Houston Astros (and the many other clubs that weren’t outed by an old teammate) proved you cannot trust teams to deploy rapidly emerging technology through only responsible means.
  9. Those pitches you're talking about were in the ALCS in Houston.
  10. There's two ways to look at that. I think it would be even worse if it was shown they used video in the playoffs.
  11. But what can they say at these things that will satisfy people? For example, maybe the real reason they fired DD was that he had become an insufferable *******. Is that what they should have told the press - the truth?
  12. Well, the facts at present are that we're being investigated and the Yanks aren't.
  13. Another thing is that there are very sophisticated legal ways of decoding signs and identifying pitch tipping now. I think everyone figured that's what Cora was saying about Beltran. In retrospect it is pretty wild that Cora would say so much about that stuff, knowing what he knew about what they did together with the Astros.
  14. You can't control the narrative with the Boston or New York media, I don't think. They'll make stuff up if they have to. Not even Belichick can do it completely. 'Coach's decision' didn't exactly shut people up about why Butler didn't play in the Super Bowl.
  15. JBJ had a hot streak. He's had numerous hot streaks during his career.
  16. JBJ and Pearce did most of their damage in the 2018 postseason in the other teams' parks. And MLB supposedly had some monitoring of the replay rooms going on then. How do you explain that?
  17. You can't really win with the media though. If you say something, it's a story. If you say nothing, that's a story.
  18. FWIW Roche and Merloni have tweeted slightly hopeful things about how the Red Sox investigation is going.
  19. No one in their right minds would propose Pedey as manager.
  20. I certainly agree that it could happen at the deadline.
  21. It's just not happening.
  22. I'd be beyond surprised if they trade Mookie now. That would just start up a whole new firestorm. As for Price, there hasn't even been a decent rumor for weeks.
  23. JH made that one comment about wanting to re-set back in September, but it's been walked back ever since. Now he's gone on record about what the priorities are. Plus, of course, none of the payroll cutting trades have happened. If there's going to be any payroll cutting, it won't be till July.
  24. That's the stated priority.
