  1. As I understand it, the increase in ticket prices is pretty small.
  2. Cry me a river, man. (Just saying that because it's kind of fun stirring you up.)
  3. We root for the jerseys, and the players root for their contracts.
  4. Ah, it's like that with every team now, jung. 99% of players only care about themselves and the money. Show me a major league team that is all about "team spirit" over money. Please. The Nats are your World Series champs, and their two big heroes Strasburg and Rendon immediately landed monster paydays - Rendon with the hapless Angels. It is what it is.
  5. It's a two-way street though. They did make some extension offers to Mookie and the last one was very legit as an opening offer. There's no indication that being a Red Sox lifer meant a thing to Mookie. He wants the max payday from whoever is willing to pay it.
  6. You guys laugh in the face of sidelined players anyway.
  7. This situation has to be judged on its own merits IMO We dumped one year of a player who is openly determined to test free agency, in a season that most of us agree would likely be chasing a Wild Card at best, with or without Mookie. And that's beside all the tax re-set crap...
  8. This was just an unusual transaction all the way around.
  9. Of course. And Price is coming off an injury too. The Hindsight Jury will render the ultimate verdict, as always.
  10. I'm not upset about any of it, so I'm REALLY in the minority.
  11. What pitcher(s) did you expect Mookie to bring back in a trade?
  12. Nah, that's too sensible.
  13. Xander got 120 million. Mookie wants that, plus an extra 300 million tossed in.
  14. "Just a matter of amounts" covers a lot of territory. Speier calculated that re-setting this year could mean a difference of about $100 million over the 3 years 2020-2022.
  15. That is one stupid f'king response.
  16. You're always pointing out the high ticket prices. But no one is forced to pay them. And the Red Sox are not the #1 team in revenues. They are #3 behind the Yankees and Dodgers. But they outspent those teams the last two years. No Red Sox fan should have a beef with Henry's spending on the team.
  17. Define 'distinction' then...
  18. Yeah, Henry has never spent on the team.
  19. Um, wasn't the Curse of the Bambino supposed to be permanent?
  20. Reads too much Shaughnessy.
  21. Hopefully they'll spend that 20 mill.
  22. Cot's is updated for the trade and has us at 187,143 mill - 20,857 under the cap.
  23. This trade didn't do anything for the farm, per se, but it did net two cost-controlled players.
  24. Yep. And the people who say, why not just give him the 420 million, you know a lot of them would quickly change their tune if he had a bad season or got hurt.
