  1. Damn it all! Kidding, but man, it feels like we are being deliberately tortured by the baseball gods this offseason.
  2. Looks like Yelich did indeed take a below market deal. Maybe his injury last year influenced his decision. Mookie can still point to Machado/Harper deals, not to mention the crazy payday for Gerrit Cole. But maybe 400 million isn't going to happen either.
  3. You're only talking about HR's. Mookie's doubles power, and hence his SLG, has been given a big boost by playing in Fenway.
  4. If that's what it is, I will really need to control the urge to open any game threads.
  5. I understand totally. But I don't think 2 years @ 17 million for the years 2021-2022 should hamstring Mr. Bloom. Mainly I'm just trying to cling to a shred of optimism about something, I guess.
  6. My reluctant prediction is you're going to see a redux of Rent-a-Wreck.
  7. Poor Roenicke. He has no chance.
  8. Oh yeah, the doubts about his health are well founded, that's for sure. On the other hand, most pitching arms seem to be ticking time bombs now.
  9. I think I'm down to one topic I can argue about, which is Eovaldi. I don't get the excitement about trading him if he has a good season. So we would get rid of 2 years @ 17 million. Terrific! Then for legit starters we'd be down to E-Rod, with one year left on his contract. Yee-haw!
  10. Playoffs? Playoffs?
  11. Yeah, I'm with you. The Boston Red Sox trading Devers for a bunch of prospects makes zero sense to me.
  12. What a fugly day this turned out to be.
  13. DD signed Sale to the extension in late March 2019. So that would mean they wanted to fire him while he was negotiating a 145 million deal. Does that make any sense to you?
  14. That rumor doesn't make a lot of sense. Fire him when, exactly?
  15. So much for hope LOL
  16. At the time it was exciting. In retrospect, just another crock of BS.
  17. The only thing interesting and compelling about McGwire/Sosa was balls flying out of the park at a record rate though.
  18. I think this one was a ground ball that got past the outfielder.
  19. Considering that Weber tossed 3 innings yesterday, maybe the plan is for him to be a starter, not an opener.
  20. Sore ankle, appears to be nothing major.
