  1. I see two areas in which MLB is trying to grow revenue recently, and they're both pretty yucky: 1) Gambling-Draft Kings/FanDuel. 2) Nike swooshes on uniforms.
  2. They're getting him to throw more cutters and they think he'll be better as a result. Let's give Bloom a chance.
  3. A 4.37 FIP is pretty much major league average, so that's a point in Weber's favor.
  4. There's absolutely no excuse.
  5. Yes, I read that too.
  6. Wow that's a cutting remark.
  7. Rusney is hitting .538.
  8. Weber after today's game: 2 GS 5 Inn, 5 H, 7 K, 0BB, 1 R, 0 ER
  9. More on that might be interesting.
  10. Oh sure, let's kick the dead horse a little more.
  11. Yeah 2 years for 38.75 million really isn't bad for a DH.
  12. Possible starter or opener Ryan Weber pitches today.
  13. I seriously doubt they would do it. If we're out of it, they can trade JBJ, Workman and Barnes.
  14. The price of upper tier free agent pitchers has just become astronomical.
  15. You've been proven right on it so far. I was fine with it at the time. Some Recency Bias in there, no doubt. But I just thought for a guy with Eovaldi's stuff and his age, it wasn't an outrageous amount. We were all aware of the injury risks. I don't think anyone expected that he would have the 'loose bodies' issue again. Has any other pitcher in history who had TJS had a reoccurrence fitting that description?
  16. I'm a Nate fan. And I hate the 'if he's pitching well trade him at the deadline' premise.
  17. LOL good play.
  18. I think it's fair to say, though, that some professions have a higher percentage of people who enjoy what they do.
  19. As far as Mookie's next contract is concerned, I'm not hoping for him to get 420 million. As good as he is, I think that's too much. And he should not get as much as Trout. The insanity has to stop somewhere.
  20. Amateur sport is great. But professional sport is what it says. And let's face it, as spectators, most of us are much more keenly interested in the professional version.
  21. Unlikely scenario Lar. Maybe you'll just have to do what a normal human being would, and hope Sale is healthy.
  22. The players love the sport, but it's also their livelihood and in most cases their one shot at making enough money to make them and their families financially secure.
  23. I'm confident on that point as well.
  24. I will say that baseball fans seem to have less patience and more pessimism all the time.
  25. Playing pickup baseball stoned could be fun. But real baseball would be one of the hardest games to play stoned, because your reaction times would be slowed down. I've played golf stoned. It doesn't affect your full swing very much but it can really hurt your putting. Back in the day I did know some guys who swore they played games like touch football and basketball as well or better when they were high.
