  1. Guess that confirms the rumors about him being isolated.
  2. Atlanta has been mentioned.
  3. The only question is whether there's some place he really wants to play. With some players that doesn't seem to matter at all, of course. I can't believe the #1 destinations for Harper & Machado were Philly and San Diego (yes I know SD is a nice place to live).
  4. On that thread he is.
  5. And why would JBJ's skills noticeably decline at his age?
  6. Teams don't typically win bidding wars by going $1 higher, of course. If the reports are accurate, the Yankees secured Cole by offering a 9th year at $36 million, whereas the Dodgers and Angels each called it quits at 8 years at the same rate.
  7. What's the big deal? You use whatever you can to market these days, inside the law of course.
  8. That's not my point though. My point is that moon said JBJ's defense wasn't worth $10 million EVEN IN HIS PRIME.
  9. Question for you moon: If elite outfield defense isn't worth $10 million a year, Why the heck do you think Mookie is worth $35 million a year? Especially keeping in mind he has an .858 OPS away from Fenway, which is hardly elite.
  10. Yeah, I mentioned that idiotic comment too.
  11. You're spouting off with no idea what you're talking about on the numbers.
  12. A fine way to talk about your 'favorite player'.
  13. That aside, if the team loses revenue it ends up hurting the fans too. Less revenue = less spending.
  14. Vince lived in simpler times.
  15. Should Henry be worried or should us fans be worried? Henry can sell his share of the team whenever he wants for a massive gain.
  16. Bloom = creative.
  17. Cora was the first manager to ever use his starters in relief that much in the postseason. It seemed to work pretty well.
  18. Cora used the fresher arm with Sale. Kimbrel had thrown 28 pitches in Game 3 and 28 in Game 4. He was throwing in the pen in case Sale got in trouble. That was just good management by Cora.
  19. Kimbrel was certainly not benched.
  20. For that matter, Mookie didn't do much in the 2018 postseason.
  21. Mainly, the payroll & tax problems meant they couldn't make acquisitions in the pitching dept. A lot of the guys from the 2018 team are making a lot more money in 2020 - Betts, Bogey, JBJ, Sale, E-Rod - because of the arb rules and the extensions. The 2018 team paid 20% tax and up. The 2020 team would pay 50% tax and up.
  22. That's true, but the 2020 team couldn't hope to duplicate that, for numerous reasons, starting with all the payroll and tax problems.
  23. Friedman departed after 2014, so that's 5 whole seasons he's been gone. It's the Rays success in 2018 and 2019 that Bloom has been a lot of the credit for.
  24. No, that was either jung, or me, I can't remember.
