True enough. My position here is just that Cora's punishment was sufficient for what he did.

I wouldn't call what happened to Cora a slap on the wrist. He was banned for a year, fired and humiliated. The washout of the season is just a fluke that has affected a lot of things.

If it was me doing the list I'd probably add back 25 million if the guy was instrumental in getting a ring - that applies to Price, Lackey & Drew. But not Lugo or Dice-K. Well, maybe 10 million for Dice-K.

If your list is meant to be restricted to free agent signings, AGon shouldn't be there anyway.

The list is too long, I think. For me the amount of wasted money is a big factor. Snow's 2 million dollars was a very insignificant amount.

And I agree with a lot of this. If I'm being devil's advocate for the owners I would argue what is being called sharing of losses is pay cutting, which is commonplace when businesses are losing money. I could also argue that players do share profits, indirectly, because when business is booming players are getting monster contracts - guaranteed contracts that will be paid even if the player tanks.

Interesting statement that deserves some analysis. My first question would be how and when have the owners actually socialized losses.

I don't see a big difference between this and some of the battles between management and labor in other businesses.

Minimal? You need to refresh yourself on the meaning of 'stakeholder'. Our stake is huge. We're the customers, who collectively fund the whole damn thing...

I don't think that should be the case. But the situation with MLB players and owners rises to the level of a political issue, because it's a conflict of power and money that a lot of people have a stake in.
