  1. I think it's all about control. In golf, the ball just sits there waiting for you to hit it, so it's all on you. In baseball, the hitter is opposed by the pitcher and the fielders.
  2. I was a bandwagon Tigers fan in 1968. They pulled off a pretty amazing comeback in the World Series that year.
  3. I love the clutch debate, I think it's interesting and fun. One thing I have mentioned a few times is that in another sport, professional golf, nobody argues whether clutch and choke exist or not. Everyone agrees that they do. So it might be sort of interesting to examine the similarities and differences between the two games. Unfortunately we don't have many golf fans here.
  4. R.I.P. Hank.
  5. James Earl Jones - now there is a man with an incredibly diverse filmography.
  6. If you're only talking about team sports. It's true that in baseball the players don't come in close contact throughout the game. But it does happen several times a game, mainly on the base paths. Conferences on the mound would have to be scrapped, presumably.
  7. It's your thread bro.
  8. Yeah, I was going to mention Ventura. I think the field here is pretty thin, so you have to be a little more...inclusive. So that's a yes.
  9. Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister.
  10. Don't anybody cheat by Googling this, either.
  11. I think he counts.
  12. That horse is dead. Puig is still sort of a live horse.
  13. Maybe to set the $10 million aside for 2021 when it could be put to more important use?
  14. It depends on your idea of entertainment. You're kind of twisted, so I get where you're coming from.
  15. Why incur the expense?
  16. It looks like that's the way teams are seeing it.
  17. Nobody seems to want much to do with Puig. I think I read that the Giants offered him a one year deal and he turned it down.
  18. Yeah, but we made out like bandits on Mookie Betts. All thanks to this deadly plague!
  19. It's not just the time factor, it's the annoyance factor of pitchers facing one batter and managers imitating Joe Maddon. I don't think this is being touted as the cure-all for long games.
  20. Anything that reduces the number of pitching changes and prevents those innings where 3 pitchers face 3 batters is good with me. Maybe the impact won't be huge, but I don't see why that in itself is a problem. The roster expansion is a whole different issue. They should probably do something about that too.
  21. Hard disagree on that one. We could take a poll on it, but there aren't too many people here with their minds on baseball right now.
  22. Not small - they look good.
  23. How did you arrive at your low opinion of the game, other than that quote attributed to Twain?
