  1. It doesn't have anything to do with the money. Why would you get a pitcher knowing he's likely to be ineffective? Isn't that the lesson they should have learned with Lackey?
  2. Fielder is 27. You're way off man.
  3. I don't quite think he would. Probably high 4's, low 5's.
  4. Wandy would be a disaster at Fenway though.
  5. The absolutely amazing thing is that he's a VEGETARIAN.@redsoxbeatz
  6. That's why waiting to see the market play itself out can be a very good idea. If the Red Sox do get Oswalt on the cheap and for one year, it will be because they waited him out.
  7. The way the AL is set up right now, no team is good enough to call itself a "super power" because the top is so crowded. "Super power" entails being far and away superior to the rest of the pack. As of right now, if i had to rank the top four teams in the AL i would say: 1) Rangers 2) Tigers 3) Yankees 4) Rays I would place the Red Sox 5th and flip-flop them with the Rays if they signed a pitcher.
  8. Then i'm assuming you don't quite have a grasp on what a "fact" is.
  9. Think about 2013 when they have Cabrera, Fielder AND V-Mart in the same lineup. Wow.
  10. The Yankees, the team you root for, are a "Super-power". That's the definition of a fan's back-patting.
  11. If they release him before the season and eat his salary (which would be league minimum) then he can't impact the luxury tax, per the CBA.
  12. Just can't miss an opportunity for some back-patting.
  13. Congratulation Dave Dombrowski! You just handed out the dumbest contract in baseball history!
  14. The tigers are officially insane if this is true.
  15. That's not how it works. A player has to be on the roster during what the CBA calls a team's "Championship Season" in order for his salary to be calculated for Competitive Balance Tax Purposes. If the club eats his salary in the off-season and releases him, he is not on the roster, therefore his AAV does not factor into the tax.
  16. They could pay him his league-minimum salary and release him, erasing his AAV from the payroll, since he will be a FA.
  17. "Most" is not all.
  18. I don't quite understand what you mean by this. Could you expand on it?
  19. The Astros want minor league players and they are willing to eat most of Wandy's salary.
  20. Why would you do that? Don't we have enough of that around here? Anyways, it also needs to be considered that Ross is coming from AT&T Park to Fenway, that alone should be a boost to his numbers. Also, let it be known that he had a pretty low .279 BABIP and his splits seem like an outlier considering his career production.
