  1. Of course he will. And of course the Red Sox say they're "content" with their team as is even though they're desperately looking for a pitcher as per multiple reports.
  2. Conjecture, as usual.
  3. This is getting really goddamned annoying. They need to get one of Oswalt/Jackson.
  4. Hey you're the one mentioning oddmakers as some sort of source of information, and they are not a credible source.
  5. I understand that. However, radical changes have happened within the organization. People can't talk from both sides of their mouth at the same time. Several fans (and even some analysts) contended that the Sox' inept medical team and awful on-field management cost them anywhere from 5 to 12 games per season. How come the improvement on those areas is not factored in? Also, objectively, it's almost impossible for whoever they have occupying the 4-5 rotation spots next year to do worse than Lackey/Wakefield/Miller/Matsuzaka. Also, of course, there's the fact that the roster is not set in stone yet. An important factor.
  6. Every team is a mass of question marks. But apparently, the only team whose question marks are going to necessarily turn out for the worst in every possible scenario are the Red Sox. These are also predictions for a team whose 25-man roster is not decided yet. Once it is, we'll have a clearer picture of where they actually stand.
  7. For the record, Teixeira has had OPS's of .756 and .694 in Sept/PO in 2011 and 2010 respectively. Clutch!!!!! (He did have a monster 2009 though).
  8. Spare me the hyperbole. We both know that 35 innings is a very small sample. how about giving him this year to see what he is instead? Is that somehow unreasonable? Because concluding that the guy is garbage after 35 innings seems a lot more unreasonable than the idea of actually waiting until he pitches at least a full season before coming to a conclusion.
  9. Ooooh.....so A-Gon choked down the stretch for us last year hitting a measly .318 /.455/ .523 .977 OPS in September. What a choker!
  10. If they got money from the Cubs, it would be discounted from the LT calculations. They would effectively have more money to spend without impacting the LT.
  11. First off, the 2010 and 2011 Red Sox are inconsequential to the 2012 version, and the 2012 version, as is, is arguably better than the 2010 one. As for the rest of your post, an SP would be pretty much the saving grace for everything, because it would move Bard down to the 5th spot in the rotation, Aceves to the BP and then all they need is to find a good BP arm from the army of dregs they have assembled. By law of averages they should find something. Doubront, Tazawa and Padilla (pending non-crazy outburst) could fill that need. As for not having a "True SS", funny you mention that, because Scutaro wasn't a "True SS". They'll manage. It all hinges on a SP, be it now via signing, trade, or mid-season. I respond to your post with my analysis because i assume you are attempting to generate discussion in this, a baseball discussion forum. Consider it backlash if you shall.
  12. Doubront (DoubrOnt) should, at the very least, be a valuable BP piece next year.
  13. But hey, it's not about the fans amiright? Because the fans can never be wrong and that cop-out is always available.
  14. He was being sarcastic though.
  15. Oswalt was negotiating with Texas yesterday, but no news on that front. The Jackson side is extremely quiet, which means Boras has something up his sleeve. Several news outlets have made a point of mentioning how he "would take a one-year deal to pitch in Boston" which could be a Boras sell piece. Time will tell.
