  1. Excuse me, but where exactly have i or anyone else said that he's better than CC? Please provide a quote.
  2. Not spread out over three seasons it isn't. Face it, Lester is right around the same league as CC, and with potential for improvement to boot.
  3. Per Fangraphs, not BB-REF.
  4. Not if they're trying to stay under the cap, which was my point. Remember that the impact from a player on the cap if he's acquired mid-season is pro-rated for the rest of the season.
  5. Another note: The BB-Reference version of WAR, which uses a formula that is only slightly tweaked from the FG formula, has Lester and CC at the following values for the last three years: Lester: 15.4 WAR CC: 16.2 WAR. 0.8 WAR difference for a formula that's not supposed to be accurate to the decimal level, all the while including Lester's worst full year at the MLB level, and Sabathia's best.
  6. The Theo compensation issue resolving itself may be exactly what they're waiting for . Depending on how much money they get (and they WILL get money) their offer to either Jackson or Oswalt could increase substantially.
  7. Speculation.
  8. Solely because of IP, which factors heavily into the formula. Funny because you've said multiple times WAR is not the "be all-end all" but it's an overwhelmingly accurate tool when it helps your argument. Interesting. Lester ERA+ last three seasons: 136. CC ERA+ last three seasons: 136.
  9. He was being sarcastic bro. He's making fun of those who seem to think they know more about baseball operations and team construction than the team's FO themselves. As they say: "Monday night quarterbacking is easy"
  10. You're being authoritative again.
  11. Lester has been exactly on the same level as Sabathia the last couple of years, apparently expecting some objectivity is a fool's pursuit.
  12. Nononononononononononononono
  13. Still a better guess than the media guys.
  14. You're a Scorpio amirite?
  15. Yeah but then before that one they're close on Oswalt, then they're out on Jackson, then they're just waiting for one of them to sign, then Ben says he's not expecting to sign anyone.
  16. Posturing? Another report says they're waiting for one of the pitchers to accept their offer. Kind of like what the Yankees did with Kuroda.
