Everything we post here is conjecture. Apparently i also know their inner workings because I said before the off-season they wouldn't sign Pujols or CJ Wilson. By your logic, that makes me an insider and "right".

    You do know part of the reason the Nationals and Marlins are throwing money left and right is because they are required to do so by the MLB Revenue Sharing agreement? Also, DC is, by definition, a big market.

    This is not rocket science: Talent is the physical ability a player has to perform. A guy who throws 95 has talent, a guy with light-tower power has talent, a guy who has lightning speed and a cannon arm has talent. That doesn't mean they will harness it into production, but the talent is there. I am confusing nothing. You simply refuse to acknowledge that your personal definition of talent is not accurate.

    A team's ability to generate revenue is directly related to the size of their market (density + TV market) and their ability to sell tickets. Neither of those, however, is the only determinant to defining a team's market status.

    Perspective about what? It simply has absolutely no bearing whatsoever in whether a team is small or large market. It factors equally into the revenue stream. Case in point. New stadium, and a payroll for 2012 that will top out at 120 million. Their payroll will be triple that of the lowest spender in the league and in the upper half of the league. That is not a small market team anymore. The only thing stopping them from jumping straight into large-market instead of mid-market category is the lack of a new TV deal. Your forbes' list for 2011 is irrelevant for the 2012 model of the Marlins. Feel free to continue sticking your head in the sand and letting your non-baseball related theoretical knowledge interfere with the facts.

    And here is where the issue with your line of thought starts. Because a team is not small market, it doesn't mean it is big market. There is a middle ground between the two, which teams like the White Sox, Orioles and Cardinals occupy. There is no contradiction. The problem lies in your inability to look beyond the "white/black" lines of your own thought process.

If the global marketing aspect of a team does not improve its revenue stream, it does not impact its status as a market in MLB. I don't need to stick anything in my head, because i understand the way revenue sharing works in MLB. You don't seem to have a grasp on it. Also, where did i say that the Marlins were a big market team? Don't just throw out blanket statements out there. Quote me on it.

    I'm taking bets. I have Padilla at 15/1 to pitch 150 IP with an ERA of 4.50 or less, and 3/1 to go insane and get into a fistfight with Salty. I have Miller at 40/1 to contribute 140 IP and 2/1 to getting double suplexed by the manager and pitching coach on the mound after walking the bases loaded. I have Cook at 30/1 to contribute 140 IP and 5/1 to getting injured while cutting a toenail. I have Silva at 10/1 to contribute 170 IP and 2/1 to eating himself into a diabetic coma.

    That makes no sense. Talent is talent. Results are results. You can have the talent without the ability to harness it. You're confusing one with the other. Just to show you how misguided you are, it takes "talent" to be able to hit tape-measure homers like Willy Mo Pena, but it takes the ability to harness it (what Wily Mo hasn't been able to do) to have the desired results.
