  1. Obviously not, seeing as you always "have each other's back". But thank you for your contributions, fine elder.
  2. Yes because that was exactly the part of the post that offended people. Thank you for your contributions, fine elder.
  3. Lots of assumption and little hard data here.
  4. Because it was a sexist comment Fred. Notice the rest of the responses.
  5. Inconsequential to the current discussion.
  6. You're copping out massively. Muggah has been beating the "maybe third place, probably fourth place" drum for months.
  7. Have you checked out Maholm's peripherals? Previous years? He had a 105 ERA+ in his career year. Do you think that, combined with his low strikeout total and platoon issues (righties have an OPS against him above .800) would fly in Fenway? He also pitched 162 innings last year. He is not a good option, and neither was Saunders. Be realistic. As for mid-season options, there were plenty to choose from last year, including Harden and Fister. The Sox simply chose the wrong one. I fail to see the logic here.
  8. Maholm is awful. Also, why would they necessarily have to sell the farm for a pitcher barely better than Maholm? Better options for a palatable price will appear. You are not being reasonable.
  9. What are the insulting offers? Per reports, the 5 MM offered by the Red Sox to Oswalt is a similar number as to what he has received from other teams. As for the rest of your post, the salary relief from Scutaro may yet allow them to add a pitcher. Why go for suckitude like Maholm or Saunders? Let them sign a better pitcher or asses their needs during the season.
  10. Early analysis, sure......we were picked to win it all last year....how'd that work out?
  11. So the 1-3 won't make it past the 6th inning? Also, who's to say they won't add a starter before or during the season? Or that one of the reclamation projects will step up and eat innings? As you say yourself "IF" they go with this group. I understand that you are mad because they haven't signed a pitcher yet.....but let's not lose perspective.
  12. It applies even less seeing as how the Nats have been desperately trying to throw money around on elite FA's the last couple of years.
  13. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Funny guy aren't ya?
  14. The 4 and 5 spots are addition by subtraction, however, this is inconsequential to the case in point here: Playoffs. In the playoffs, they need three starters. That would place Aceves and Bard back, making the pen a force to be reckoned with. The top three for the Sox is phenomenal and so would be the playoffs bullpen. I understand that you simply cannot be objective on the subject and continue to hang your hat on "last year's ERA", but that really doesn't matter when assessing potential playoff pitching.
  15. Unless not one, but two of the "reclamation projects" step up. How nice would it be to be able to have Oswalt/Padilla as the 4/5 starters with Bard and Aceves in the BP.
  16. Sharing a market is not a basis for dismissal when the market is that big.
  17. TV ratings are as prone to fluctuation as attendance, and directly tied to team success. Again, 2008 Rangers. It's not solid footing to stand on.
  18. So now the opinion of the people who "make a living talking about sports" doesn't matter, but what fans in forums say matters? SMH.
