  1. Except that he's not an ace, and he's usually not healthy.
  2. The White Sox finished a couple games out of first place and the Royals are unproven. How exactly are they not contenders in that weak division?
  3. His posts are bad, and he should feel bad.
  4. Reputation? Pride? Legacy? Dustin Pedroia, Derek Jeter, Todd Helton, Albert Pujols and Adrian Beltre sure stopped playing hard as soon as they got their guaranteed money. It's not like their respective managers have to practically drag them out of lineup to give them a day off or anything....
  5. And are probably not available since all three are playing for contending clubs.
  6. Ellsbury Victorino Pedroia Napoli Middlebrooks Salty Gomes Bradley Iglesias
  7. The way this team has crashed and burned the past couple of years, preserving the year should not be the primary concern. All signs point to the opportunity arising later in the season though.
  8. You do know he can be sent down for 20 games mid-season and the Sox still keep the year of control?
  9. He was not a free agent signing for the Mets, as the original post clearly explains.
  10. Yeah but Nava not only lacked experience, he also lacked athleticism, speed and quick lateral movements. The lack of those really make those adventures a lot more story-worthy than they need to be. Also, how does people swinging at the first pitch in ST games equate to the Red Sox not being a "team"? That may be the stupidest thing i ever heard. Most of these guys are just up there getting their hacks, and Iglesias has always been a free-swinger.
  11. Where do you come up with this stuff?
  12. So you're saying that players don't usually go to the place where the most money is offered? If you are, i have a bridge i need to sell..... On the other hand, your response has very little to do with my point, so i suggest you re-read the posts that lead to this one.
  13. Cliff Lee's the exception that strengthens the rule.
  14. I'll argue that Manny was decent at Fenway, but not on the road.
  15. Edwin Jackson sure gave up his demands to play for a contender when the Cubs flashed all that green.
  16. What does what Schilling think about ST hitting have to do with your assesment of his fielding?
  17. Haterade sales increased 800% since last night.
  18. I mean i have said myself the impact is diminished because of Fenway, but come on. In more spacious parks, having LBJ in LF instead of a lumbering ox like Gomes would be a blessing.
  19. jung, this is all speculation at best. Are you basing this argument on a couple of ST games? If you are, then it holds little water.
  20. Yeah that wasn't directed at anyone in particular, which is why i didn't quote him. No need to fan a fire that ain't there. Letting him speak for himself is exactly what you should do.
  21. F.O spends money: "They are idiots, why did they spend all that money at just an outside chance at the playoffs....this team is poorly run, i could do better". F.O does not spend money: "They are idiots, pocketing the money is alienating the fanbase, they should have spent the money even if it meant just an outside chance at the playoffs.....this team is poorly run, i could do better." GTFO.
  22. Also Dojji, isn't it kind of ironic you're talking about wanting to keep Beltre after you were his biggest hater on the board?
  23. A lot of people are going to be whining about Iglesias if he can't hit. They reason they brought Drew is that, in all likelihood, he can't. We'll see.
