  1. Let's be a little realistic here: Gomes has 1,191 plate appearance of .882 OPS against lefties. This season, he has 71 plate appearances of .692 OPS against lefties. Are you going to sit there with a straight face and tell me i should conclude that the 71 PA's aren't just a bad streak when i have an enormous sample of previous success by Gomes against LHP?
  2. Nava won't be the starter, he'll be platooned like at the beginning of the season. It's pretty self-explanatory. Otherwise, Ciriaco and Bradley go down, Iglesias becomes a super-sub that gets plenty of AB's.
  3. I don't think it's fair to even mention cERA for Lavarnway given the size of the sample. You love that stat, but it's honestly next to useless unless used in a relatively large sample in a semi-controlled environment.
  4. Don't tell that to a lot of people here who, inexplicably, expect Teixeira to be an immediate significant upgrade over Overbay. There is significant evidence that helps one concluded that while he will be an upgrade, how much of an upgrade remains to be seen, and the chances that he'll be a massive one are slim.
  5. Dude has no clue what he's talking about. No thought process consistency either. If the Yankees do well despite injuries, good FO management. If the Red Sox do well despite injuries, luck and we need to do something with some pink glasses. GTFO.
  6. Rios has cooled down significantly, and the entire White Sox lineup is slumping. Nava has significantly better numbers than Markakis in every aspect except RBI.
  7. If he keeps this up, he certainly has a shot. As of now there probably are a couple guys who wouldn't make it that probably will.
  8. Right, because with multiple DL stints from position players and pitching staff members and their projected closer out for the season, the first place Red Sox haven't handled injuries well and are just making excuses. Do you even think before you post?
  9. So making the All-Star team as a reserve or write-in means you're not an All-Star?
  10. The question isn't whether he's an upgrade, because we all know Overbay sucks. The problem is how much of an upgrade. How do you justify your "pretty good upgrade" comment, when current trends and projections state otherwise? Is Yankee mystique going to help him fight off his continuing regression and help him suffer no ill effects from an injury that has messed up better hitters than he is? I don't get the whole "immediate upgrade" mindset.
  11. Napoli last four years: .872 OPS Tex last 4 years: .828 OPS But some would rather face Napoli because he "Strikes out more". Sound logic.
  12. But he didn't hit them. "Pace" means nothing. And what does how many homers a Red Sox player hit last year have to do with Teixeira's production? The point is that he was slightly above average last year, and the trend suggests that he'll be average or worse this year.
  13. And has regressed every year for the past three years, and is now coming off a significant wrist injury. Color me unimpressed.
  14. 24 homers is a ton of bombs for a 1B? News to me.
  15. Teixeira is a "star" in name only. He's been regressing for years and sucked the big one last season (by 1B standards.)
  16. You kinda brought this on yourself. Boo-Yah!
  17. [youtube=]?v=kvBH_p4uKkQ Next time give it your A-game Jackass
  18. I'm talking about Divinity, not Jacko. The only reason you can tell the two apart is because Jacko can actually form a coherent sentence. (Albeit with some text speak, which is extremely annoying)
  19. He made a post in this GT. It was stupid though, which is unsurprising

  21. The Boston Red Sox are good at baseball
  22. They really don't. Because not only do you know he won't keep hitting like this, but we're all kidding ourselves if we think Iglesias is, has been or will be a better and more productive hitter than WMB.
  23. Bases loaded is a SSS though. And hitters tend to fare slightly better overall with runners on due to defensive shifts and a drop-off in stuff from pitchers pitching from the side Also, Jesus Christ Iglesias is on fire.
  24. Mark Teixeira's back, fear us!
  25. Come on Drew, show us your worth!
