  1. Lester, for the love of God.
  2. And he probably wouldn't bang her because you're his buddy and he respects your daughter
  3. I understand that, the point was that he may not be able to keep providing the same amount of value over the next three years. And when we're talking about a pitcher's longevity, not being a hard thrower helps maintain effectiveness longer, that is true. The problem is that there are not a lot of examples of guys who maintained that level of performance into their late 30's. Lee may be one of the exceptions. But at two upper-level prospects and twenty five per, that's a big gamble on mere possibility.
  4. Define "value" in this instance. He'll be the wrong side of 30 AND making 25 per for those three years. A study was done not long ago about pitchers who have managed 200 IP season in both their age 35 and 36 years. The list is rather short. Sometimes you need to look past star power and realize that the possibility of sudden decline for a pitcher of that age is not only possible, but likely. Look at Halladay for a prime example. I'd love Lee, but not trading two top prospects and absorbing his whole salary too. I'd trade for him under one of those scenarios.
  5. I just found this post an, wow. Nostrkapsis This was discussion about the Orioles' luck in one-run games mind you.
  6. First off, easy there with Y228. He's the rarest species in the world: A Yankee fan who is not a total douche. Second, that idea could very easily backfire.
  7. Oh my God. Could you take off the Nava homer glasses for a second? It's a platoon, and "usage patterns" are very clear in that regard. It's not a knock on Nava, but they're paying Gomes good money to hit LHP, and a rough two months is not enough to overlook several seasons of success against them. It doesn't help that Nava has an enormous platoon disparity vs righties (.931 OPS) and lefties (.711 OPS). When the OF is fully healthy, Nava starts vs RHP, and Gomes against LHP. That is the very definition of a platoon.
  8. You are not helping.
  9. Maybe instead of renaming the site we could put the breaks on the Tatylor talk juuuuuust a bit. I mean she's hot, and we know you like her, but come on.
  10. Jacko also seems to forget that Vernon Wells and Travis Hafner have stopped drinking from the youth fountain.
  11. The problem here is you are assuming both players will contribute an aggregate OPS above .800. History suggests that is unlikely. Youkilis is a mid-700 OPS hitter right now, and with the trend of regression from Texeira the last five seasons, and coming off a wrist injury, he likely is as well. I don't think you should be talking about statistical ignorance while at the same time being a homer and ignoring the statistical evidence being presented.
  12. I read your post and got your point. I just think it's nonsense, and you apparently have reading comprehension problems. Let me put it in simpler terms: They will help the lineup, but the impact will likely not be as big as you're making it out to be because of holes in other positions, other players regressing, and the regression Tex and Youkilis are suffering themselves. If the Yankees are middle of the pack in OPS right now, Tex and Youk won't move them from there, even with the improvement.
  13. First correcting the fact that Youkilis has never hit 30 bombs in his career. Second, the point isn't IF they can help (of course they can, and will), it's how much they can help. Texeira is a notoriously slow starter coming off significant injury. Youk isn't the hitter he used to be. Even with their return, the Yankee lineup is full of holes, question marks and health problems. If they were both coming back to the Red Sox lineup, these are facts you would not overlook. "Take off the rose colored glasses".
  14. I'm referring to Nava/Gomes as a platoon. I wish they'd give JBJ a chance to win the job though.
  15. Once Victorino and WMB come back, the bench will look like: Nava Gomes Carp Iglesias Ross Pretty damn good if you ask me.
  16. Ross is a first-D player, and he's delivered in that department. Ciriaco's been bad, but Gomes, for all he's been maligned, has spent all year delivering quality AB's and getting on base. And for the record, Nava is a platoon player starting because Victorino is injured. That's indisputable.
  17. Chalmers is an enigmatic player. He spends all season looking like he should be playing in a developmental league. Then the playoffs start and every time the Heat are struggling, he plays like an All-Star.
  18. That's what happens when you have two of your regulars on the DL. Two bench guys become regulars, and your bench runs thin.
  19. That's a whole different issue than what your above post stated. Beltran has been healthy and productive. Dickey has been neither.
  20. Why are you mentioning Beltran here again? He has an .875 OPS the last two seasons averaging nearly 150 games a season. They didn't "pawn him off at the right time".
  21. Don't look now, but the Red Sox are above the Yankees in the loss column. It's all over. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cD8kMRgeAno/UJpgrAfbYCI/AAAAAAAAAmQ/VtRp-Plhy1w/s320/They+mad.jpg
  22. Tigers and Pirates again scoreless into the ninth inning. The Pirates' pitching staff is for real.
  23. Hate this sub-forum, keep confusing it for the MLB thread. Also, it's for the Yankees. f*** the Yankees and all their fans except Y228.
  24. You know what's awesome? The description of this sub-forum says: "Making the Mets look better since 2001". How accurate is that? BOO-YAH!
