  1. So the Tigers are apparently shopping Scherzer. May wanna kick the tires on that one.
  2. I would like to see them De-Salty the position, and get a catcher who's a plus defender. If McCann is too expensive, Ruiz for a year with an option would do it for me.
  3. Only balls that are hit into play count for the BABIP calculation.
  4. Those are all guys who: A) Have much better contact skills that Napoli, and B ) Walk just as much (or more, in Trout and Votto's case) but K significantly less.
  5. I doubt it. The BABIP issue is a product of a small sample of actual contact due to so many K's and walks. The baseline for his power and OBP are there, so a season similar to 2013 is a very likely possibility.
  6. Large BABIP fluctuations are not an uncommon occurrence in "True outcome" hitters like Adam Dunn, Napoli and Carlos Pena.
  7. I'm probably going to be dead wrong here but: Ellsbury goes, Drew goes, Napoli stays, Salty (unfortunately) stays.
  8. How can you infer that from jung's post?
  9. From MLBTR.
  10. McCann is not going to get "close to 20M a year". You can expect him to sign for no more than 15 mill per. He has his issues.
  11. Dempster, maybe. Peavy? Not so much. Let's be realistic here, the AL and the NL are not the same thing, as evidenced by Dempster. It's unlikely he comes over and posts a 2013 Peavy season given his age and the league change.
  12. Good luck with that......
  13. You are comparing a guy who has yet to throw an MLB pitch to one of the greatest pitchers to ever toe the rubber. You see exactly why some of us are trying to temper your expectations
  14. That's because Yankee fans, with few exceptions, have unreasonable expectations and think the Yankees have an unlimited pool of money, which 2012 demonstrated is not true. And as such, the Red Sox don't have an infinite pool of money either, and we, as fans, would be well-advised to understand the financial limitations of this team. The posting fee issue is simple: It would be a one-time payment of around 60 million dollars. That is an enormous financial commitment no matter which team is making it. The key issue here is whether said financial investment would be sound, considering the fact that this team does have constraints beyond the LT limitations. As an aside, i just don't understand the fascination with Tanaka. It would be cool to get him, but he's not as good as Darvish.
  15. You are making his point for him. The bolded part of your post is exactly what Bellhorn is saying.
  16. 19 million? No thanks.
  17. If that's what you took from the Epstein quote, then you have very very poor reading comprehension, which is not surprising.
  18. If so, then what exactly were you implying in this post?
  19. Drew did good this year, but you're severely overrating his long-term potential. Three years would be the sweet-spot for him. It's unlikely someone drops four years on him, much less five as you suggested earlier.
  20. A .777 OPS, .337 wOBA and 3.4 WAR with a 6.7 UZR/150 are hardly average for a SS.
  21. Now you know how we feel when you constantly post about KC players or one of your binkies making unreasonable projections/arguments.
  22. Then you've seen very little. Butler does not project as a starter. He's not that good.
  23. Yeah they should let Granderson walk. Cano's getting 8+ years from someone, and that someone is almost certain to be the Yankees.
  24. You know me too well. Kinda scary.
  25. ....to the point where some people stopped posting when they couldn't bitch about not having an overpaid closer pitching the back-end of games for us.
