    Yeah but there are limits on spending. Again, wasting money stupidly is the reason 2012 happened. In this case, it's not specifically the money (they have flexibility), it's the length of contract then the moey. Teams that buy out past-prime years for players with fragile skillsets are the ones who end up in a position like the 2013 Yankees. And no one wants to be the 2013 Yankees.

    Did you take into account Lackey's AAV reduction because of his elbow clause? Also, you have to take into account around 12 million for general player expenditures. They've got around 40 million left pre-arb.

    They really didn't. They had a roster that had issues with offensive depth and those issues manifested themselves in a very ugly way. They had several holes in the lineup overshadowed by the production of Posey, roided up Melky and the addition of Scutaro plus a career year from Pagan. The signs for offensive regression were there, but they didn't heed them.

    Dojji, the Giants WS roster received minor shakeups after 2010, and other improvements during 2012. They kept the roster literally intact from 2012 to 2013 and missed the playoffs. Please think before you post.

    Dojji, no one hates Ellsbury, stop fabricating silly ideas. People don't want the Sox to overpay for him, which is an entirely different deal. Pretty much everyone on this board has mentioned that they would gladly take JE back if he were to sign for market price, instead of the Boras premium. Stop making s*** up. As for Buchholz, he is indeed very frail, but your eternal vendetta against him (and pretty much any other homegrown player with actual talent except your binkies, for reasons impossible to comprehend) is very misguided. Part of the health issues he's had the last two years have very much to do with the medical staff's complete and utter incompetence. That said, he does have a lot to prove.
