    Are you really whining about the Sox possibly waiting to pounce on Drew on a cheap 1-year deal? Really? Wow. There's nothing to complain about here. They are doing the right thing. Let his market develop, and if he's forced to come back on the Sox' terms you do it, because he is a good player. You are ridiculous Fred. Just ridiculous.

    Estimates say A-Rod is spending about a million dollars a month on legal fees. If you were one of his lawyers, would you tell him not to go on with his stupid crusade knowing you can make this much money off of him and that there's a sliver of a chance he may actually get away with winning this thing? I highly doubt it.

    Bay's knees/right shoulder were shot by the second year of the deal too. The reason why a700 is leaning so hard on the concussion problem is because of all the whining he did when the Sox FO let him go over concerns over precisely those two issues.

    What the f*** is a "NY style" contract? Out of the top 20 largest contracts in baseball history, the Yankees and Mets have five contracts combined (Sabathia, Teixeira, Jeter, Ellsbury, Santana for the Mets) yet the Red Sox have given out three (Ramirez, Gonzalez, Crawford), the Phillies three (Hamels, Howard, Lee) the Tigers three (Miggy, Fielder, Verlander) and the rest is divided among the rest of the league. The top tier teams all spend stupid money. Cry me a river with the "NY spends so much money" nonsense. All of the rich teams spend stupid money.

    He was even better his second year here: Bay 2008: .895 OPS total, .894 with Pirates, .897 with Red Sox. Bay 2009: .921 OPS. I don't get how how he "wasn't the same after his first year here". His real issues started after the concussion and assorted injuries he had in 2010.

    The only reason Selig came down so hard in A-Rod is because Rodriguez is an idiot and brought this on himself. Everyone else got let off easy, but he s*** on the chance he was given to negotiate, tried to pay off/bully key witnesses, and generally interfered with MLB's investigation. Had he backed down like a scared puppy like Braun did, he would've gotten off with a slap on the wrist. He gets no sympathy from me.

    So what you're trying to say is that the precedent should be set that a player who tampers with an investigation by bullying/buying key witnesses, actively recruits and helps supply other players with PEDs AND uses PEDs should be punished the same way as someone who simply used PEDs?     Federal courts don't like dealing with cases that were already reviewed under the umbrella of a previously established CBA. That's what the CBA is for. And it was agreed upon by all current parties in good faith. So in essence, according to both jurisprudence and expert opinion, A-Rod doesn't have a chance in hell, and with good reason.

    I think he means the possibility of winning might entice Tanaka to go to one of the teams with a better record of recent success. That, imo, would benefit the Dodgers more than the Red Sox, since they have a great combination of money/recent success/weaker league.
