  1. This is the stupidest thing I have ever read, and I've read some s*** on this site. Congrats!
  2. Don't worry, just an old-timey and dad-pants mistake.
  3. DR is. We've been talking about Puerto Rico all along. This lawless shithole has no overviewing first world country.
  4. Well remember I live in DR, not PR. Puerto Rico is essentially a US state. It has a significant level of autonomy and its own "government" but is subject to federal law and guidelines.
  5. This is both correct and relative.
  6. Specially when he's striking out a ton without walking. Because of his baserunning, lack of contact/power can be mitigated by OB ability and good baserunning, as mentioned.
  7. Players never, ever, ever, ever stop tinkering with their swing or pitching mechanics. It is a constant process. When you hear a team/player talking about off-season mechanical changes, that is a major overhaul (think Jason Heyward) not tinkering. JBJ's swing when he's going good is fluid. His problem is both mental (trying to uppercut everything) leading to mechanical (going from a slight uppercut to a loopy swing with a bad bat path). It's not a problem he can simply work on in the offseason since it's an in-season problem. The only one who can avoid those bad habits is himself, and he has to work on maintaining his adjustments during the season.
  8. Yes and no. It's a complicated subject, and SK is only partially right. It's a messy issue.
  9. They got rid of Buchholz to clear salary.
  10. We can't agree on a definition for a reason.
  11. An intellectual cop-out for a point that has no merit. It's not that clutch exists but is not quantifiable, it's that the concept itself is hogwash because no one can agree on a definition. You just expanded on the most accepted definition of "clutch" with the psycho mumbo-jumbo. People can't even agree on a definition for it, so why should we believe it exists? It is, again, like Matsuzaka's gyroball: It doesn't actually exist. Players play to their talent level regardless of situation with some notable exceptions. The one thing you can quantify and identify is a choker. That's what it really is: A guy who doesn't consistently choke in big spots. It's not like Ortiz was a replacement level hitter who suddenly transformed into Big Papi in pressure situations. Dude was an all-around MVP caliber hitter.
  12. I like Panda second so you can deploy Benintendi third and have some semblance of lineup balance. I don't like JBJ second because of how streaky and K-prone he is. I agree that Bogaerts is on the rise, but he's definitely a superior option with the platoon advantage.
  13. Over his career, Fat Pablo has a .352 OBP vs righties. Bogaerts sits at .321. Food for thought.
  14. Mechanical changes aren't as easy as making a sandwich. Changes to movements ingrained in muscle memory are not easy.
  15. Good point as well. You'll get the offensive peaks and valleys but he can go get it. Also, he's a good baserunner, which improves the overall package.
  16. The MLB and the corresponding teams and their owners =/= the US baseball teams on international competitions.
  17. f*** the US team is the general consensus here. Then again, it always has been.
  18. JBJ is a strange case. From what I've seen and read (Apply salt liberally) he has a high-maintenance swing that easily gets loopy leading to his pitch selection suffering as well once he's pressing. Lots of possibilities for improvement if that's the case.
  19. It's the magnificent ginger beard.
  20. Which is why I like Pablo in the two spot versus righties.
  21. Got my Puerto Rico hat on.
  22. I got your point, ginger David Blaine.
  23. That has literally nothing to do with the whether the magical skill known as clutch actually exists. Trump is claiming Obama wiretapped him in his tower. Without proof, can you claim without a shadow of a doubt that it's true? By your logic, we should re-sign Matsuzaka so we can see some more gyroballs! Another mythical construct of the Sox PR team no one can prove.
  24. I like Panda second, Benintendi third and Betts fourth.
  25. No, a fact is something definable and demonstrable. You can't just show up and say "This is what it is because I said so". At least make a compelling point, like Kimmi.
