  1. S5, I like you, but this is a bunch of dribble. First off, most sabermetricians crunch numbers to better understand the game because they love it. Calling a group of people you have had zero interaction with "soulless" just because their opinion does not match yours is both shallow and pedantic. Also, the whole "50 years" of experience point is bogus. Ask Josh Donaldson what "50 years of experience" about hitting got him to. He defied convention by actively challenging the collective advice of people with tens of years of experience with great results (and based on modern research I might add). The fact that some things can't be quantified is true, but it doesn't demerit statistical or modern research.
  2. Where's Spudboy when you need him? Because he sure has s*** on Pom since we got him.
  3. Hey, you asked for it.
  4. Mother of God......
  5. Tighten your anus Pom Pom, goddamn.
  6. Other managers are doing this (Francona and Roberts come to mind) infrequently, but doing it. It's not a new strategy.
  7. This is idiotic. Aaron Hicks has a howitzer. He has one of the best arms in the major leagues with multiple on-point 100 MPH throws and it was a hard-hit ball right in front of him. Stop defending s***** play.
  8. Or gimme K-curves. It's in his head now.
  9. Judge can't even hit mediocre fastballs if they're high apparently.
  10. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
  11. But fundamentals don't matter amirite?
  12. Stop with the annoying ******** for the love of God. Let people enjoy the GT. You like Farrell, we get it, but goddamn make a non-snarky post.
  13. Gotcha. Agree. But usually high profile rookies like that hit the rough patch in their second season.
  14. That's why I love 'em.
  15. A good player is a good player is a good player. If you spend money on good players, you increase the odds of your team being good. Theo Epstein always said "The best way to build a competitive ballclub is to build a roster with above-average players at all possible positions". It's not where they spend the money (positions) but rather how (guys who can perform on both sides of the ball).
  16. That doesn't mean today what it used to a couple years ago SK. By the time kids reach MLB there's plenty of video, scouting and advanced stats on them, even if their milb exposure was limited. Too many resources.
  17. That is excellent reading. Thanks MVP.
  18. The actual adjustment has been reported on a couple websites (look up Aaron Judge increase in high fastballs and low sliders). They were looking for his weaknesses and apparently high heat and low and away sliders are eating him up. Nothing to do with the HR derby, they just found a way to pitch to him.
  19. Garcia f***ing sucks. They better not pull their disappearing act against crappy lefties.
  20. I came here to post this. You are a good man.
  21. I like my advanced stats with a variety of toppings, but honey and cream are my favorites.
  22. The league was bound to adjust to Judge.
  23. I got that reference. Also, I know you missed me.
  24. Stupid baserunning has been a staple of Farrell teams since he became a manager. There seems to be a fundamental problem there. Other than that, I am content with his work.
  25. I nominate Jack Flap and Spudboy.
