  1. Wild Pitch, runners advanced, then Victorino tried to take Home as well.
  2. He had one last night too
  3. There's nothing wrong with being religious, and your beliefs are not the reason I attacked you. You simply made an ignorant statement about another religion, a statement that showed you have zero knowledge of what it actually is (outside of what the media has told you). Voodoo dolls are not actually part of the Voodoo culture. They're part of European witchcraft, and the name was created by an American. As an analogy: Voodoo dolls are to Voodoo as Fortune cookies are to Chinese food.
  4. It's just misinformed people spewing hate about things they've only heard about on TV and in movies, and know absolutely nothing at all about.
  5. Voodoo dolls are universally associated with Voodoo, for incorrect reasons. Most know the concept of the voodoo doll-- a doll is made as a likeness of the intended victim and is then stuck with pics and needles to inflict pain upon the victim. It is surprising then to learn that Voodoo dolls are unheard of in the original Voodoo in Haiti, although some are used in New Orleans voodoo, mostly to amuse tourists. The real origin of the "Voodoo doll" is the "poppet," used in European witchcraft. Apparently, the term Voodoo doll was invented by an American writer who made up a story about Voodoo after hearing that it was witchcraft. The only "dolls" used in Voodoo are ones used on Voodoo altars, which are supposed to represent loas. Loas are intermediaries between "God" and the people. They are akin to Christian angels and/or saints, and have absolutely no "evil" roots.
  6. Satanic? Voodoo has nothing to do with Satan. Have some respect for other peoples cultures and religions.
  7. Cano will be represented by Brodie Van Wagenen, one of CAA's agents.
  8. Jay-Z is not his agent. Jay-Z is forming a partnership with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), which is already one of the biggest and most famous agencies around. They represent Ryan Braun, Derek Jeter, Jason Bay, Andre Ethier, Matt Garza, Adam Jones, Carlos Quentin, Ryan Howard, Buster Posey, Roy Halladay, Ryan Zimmerman, amongst many other big names, and that's just baseball. In sports, they also represent other big names like Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sidney Crosby, Tony Romo, Shaun White. Then, in film, they represent Jennifer Aniston, James Cameron, Drew Barrymore, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey, Cameron Diaz, Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg, and Bruce Willis. And in music, AC/DC, Christina Aguilera, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Green Day, John Legend, Ludacris, John Mayer, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Sting, and Kanye West It can be argued that this was actually a very smart move on his part.
  9. The WSJ brought back its "blindfold brackets" for 2013. They don't tell you the name of the teams, and give a general idea of their seed/rpi, along with team ratings. It's pretty fun, and I ended up with a St Louis, Gonzaga, Florida, Indiana Final 4, with Gonzaga winning it all over Florida. http://projects.wsj.com/blindfold-brackets-2013/
  10. Cashman broke his ankle skydiving with the Army's Golden Knights and had to undergo surgery similar to what Jeter had. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/9015136/new-york-yankees-general-manager-brian-cashman-broke-ankle-skydiving
  11. Here comes the inevitable 18-5, 3.25 era season..
  12. Why is it possible they can void his deal if he misses the whole season? Players with bad deals (John Lackey for example) miss seasons fairly often and voiding their contracts never comes up.
  13. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/31/ryan-kalish-expected-to-miss-six-months-after-surgery/ http://bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/01/31/ryan-kalish-could-out-until-august/cre1dfM3K7olTZECvwSKtJ/story.html
  14. All the bickering here brings me right back to high school
  15. I'd be willing to throw all 3 of them, plus another 1-2 mid level prospects, and probably more. Stanton is incredibly young (23) and has proven he can mash. Miguel Cabrera was traded to Detroit (with Dontrelle Willis) for 6 prospects, Dallas Trahern, Burke Badenhop, Eulogio De La Cruz, Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller and Mike Rabelo. Stanton is even better at this point than Cabrera was, and Cabrera was traded with a few less years of team control remaining.
  16. @mlbbowman Source: Braves get Justin Upton and Chris Johnson from D-backs for Prado, Delgado, Ahmed and Spruill.
  17. I used Baseball-Reference. I couldn't find another OF trio (other than those mentioned earlier) that was even remotely close to the 27 Yanks. That OF was ridiculous.
  18. The 1927 Yankees Babe (12.1) Earle Combs (6.7) Bob Meusel (3.8) 22.6 WAR between them!
  19. Te'o is no victim. He's involved in this somehow. In an article on the Notre Dame website from awhile back, his dad stated that he brought her to Hawaii for vacation a couple of times. That story has since been removed from the site. Te'o had stated in the past that he's met her, but later backtracked on that, saying he only knew her online and through phone calls.
  20. It can't be any worse than A-Rod's hip! :harhar:
  21. I'll miss you Padilla. Good luck in Japan! Time to change the avi I suppose
  22. http://deadspin.com/5976517/manti-teos-dead-girlfriend-is-a-hoax If this is legit... I don't even know, but it's horrible. I can't find anything about it anywhere else though
