  1. Lackey rebounds to post 15 wins and a sub 4.00 ERA Ellsbury hits .305 with 13 HR The Red Sox miss the 2nd WC by a game Angels / Blue Jays ALCS Giants / Nationals NLCS Angels / Nationals WS Strasburg wins the Cy Young and WS MVP
  2. I don't think Sanchez is a $16MM pitcher, and it wasn't worth getting into a bidding war with the Tigers to pry him away.
  3. Hamilton to LAA for 5/$125M The Angels also have strong interest in RA Dickey. The Mets need a CF, and Peter Bourjos makes sense.
  4. I like the Dempster signing. He can't possibly be worse than the bottom of our rotation.
  5. This has to put their payroll over $200M, and I doubt they're done yet.
  6. ESPN just reported that the Dodgers are about to sign Greinke.
  7. Can we get rid of Lord Snow and bubbakeg instead? I'd give Lackey an extension if we could make this happen.
  8. Even though I think he'd improve our current roster, I'd pass. Nothing he can do, short of a 6+ WAR season, would get the fans back on his side. One bad start and everyone would be calling for his head
  9. Not for $20+MM a year, which is what Boras will get him if he stays healthy and performs. The only 2 options we should be considering are trading him now or trading him at the deadline, and I'm leaning towards now, because of what Jung said.
  10. There's some epic dumbassery going on around here.
  11. Not to argue, but wasn't Ross signed so he and Sweeney could platoon?
  12. If Youk is smart, he'll go somewhere to play 1B. It seems like most of his injuries started after we moved him to 3B.
  13. Given equal offers from Boston and Washington, I'd go with Washington too. He doesn't have to fill a #1/2 spot in a rotation, and gets to pitch against the Mets and Marlins a bunch of times to improve his numbers. Haren is setting himself up for 1 last big payday.
  14. It might be 39, I haven't looked into it at all yet. I was only going from a700's post on the 1st page
  15. Haren had the chance to go to a legitimate WS contender, not have to worry about the stress of being a top of the rotation guy, and also stay out of the media spotlight. Their rotation is disgusting for 2013. Strasburg Gonzalez Zimmermann Haren Dettweiler Agreed on this. LF is small, and you can stick a defensive liability out there. CF and RF however, you might as well stick 2 natural CF's (Ellsbury and Victorino) out there
  16. 3-$37.5MM is not a bad deal at all. Our OF looks really solid for 2013, hopefully SP help is on the horizon.
  17. Why the hate for Victorino? He's a solid defender, has speed, gets on base (.340 OBP). Looking through his career stats, he appears to be a much cheaper Carl Crawford that switch hits, walks more, and k's less.
  18. Dan Haren signed with the Nationals 1 year @ $13MM
  19. I think that would be about as good of an offseason as we could ask for. I really hope you're right here.
  20. A lot of people seem to think that they're only working 1 potential deal at a time, when they've probably got at least 50 feelers out there. Just because they're signing Napoli and talking to Swisher and Hamilton, does not mean that they aren't talking to teams about pitchers.
  21. What the hell are you going on about? Would you rather them give Napoli, Swisher, and Haren 8 year deals? I have no idea what your post is supposed to be about.
  22. The only reason I can think of, is that they have other deals in the works. Cherington has stated that he plans on getting the payroll back up and being competitive in 2013. Maybe trading Lester for Myers opens the door to bring in a legitimate #1/2, with Myers as the trade chip.
  23. The biggest drawback to the Lester-Myers trade IMO, is this: The casual fan knows Jon Lester, and loves him. Without that star quality pitcher since Pedro/Schilling/Beckett, those fans have grown to love Lester. Trading him for a "prospect" like Myers, who is an unknown to those casuals, could signal a rebuilding year, with less fans buying tickets and merchandise. I am all for the trade however.
  24. Final terms of the Upton deal are 5 years @ $75.25M
  25. Jacko, I'm interested in your opinion on this. Do the Yankees have a contingency plan in place if Martin bolts?
