    I would absolutely love to keep Ellsbury over CC at 8/160, but what's done is done. CC is signed long term, and our offense is elite without either of them. Our starting pitching is weak, and that's where our money needs to go. If we could find someone, anyone, to take CC off our hands without paying too much of his contract, then I say do it, and then sign a #1 and Ellsbury long term.

    He is only 33, but he does have over 2000 games played already. Nearly all the active players over 1500 games are on the decline. By the end of 2014, he'll be at around 2400 games. I can't see him having THAT much left in the tank then.

    As much as I love Ortiz, I know in my heart of hearts he won't end up in the Hall. His career WAR is pretty subpar (B-R.com has him at 35.8, 517th all time). Red Sox HOF tho? Absolutely.
