  1. He is no longer a consideration. We seem to be saying that a lot here lately!
  2. Some fans have so much invested in their teams that they misconstrue any critical comment as unfairly negative. Quite frankly the current generation of Red Sox fans are spoiled. They don't remember the feuds that Red Sox players like Ted Williams used to have with the media. If they think writers are negative today they have no idea.
  3. Tell me about it! Point is that both Cleveland and Baltimore are sucky towns.
  4. Thank you for the edit McAdam my executive assistant doesn't work nights.
  5. It is interesting to hear other points of view. However, if you follow the Boston sports media as closely as I do we aren't saying anything that McAdams, Buckley, Mazz, Fegler Callahan, Carfado, Abrahams, Merloni aren't also saying to one degree or another.
  6. Ever been to Cleveland? No one likes Cleveland, why do think the Browns moved to Baltimore?
  7. You are correct. I was wondering that myself. I suspect there is more to this then we'll ever know.
  8. There is negativity and then there is reality. We aren't being negative just realistic. As Thomas Aquinas said "Life is tough"
  9. Got to get through this season first.
  10. Just heard an interview on XM with Rangers Mike Maddux. I think the Rangers may jump in at that price for Oswalt. I know he isn't the decisionmaker but he does give an insight into their thinking.
  11. At some point you got to ask why do you want a pitcher who doesn't want to pitch for you. I understand that it could be a negotiating tactic. However, we certainly don't need some one who is not a "competitor" or another Erik Bedard personality a talented pitcher with no "heart".
  12. Sean McAams wasn't too optimistic that the Sox would sign Oswalt and down played Edwin Jackson saying no one has successfully harnessed his potential. Barring improvements and the addition of another wild care McAdams ranks the current Red Sox 5 th or 6 th in the AL at present and unlikely to make the playoffs
  13. That's my view as well.
  14. Today's column by Tony Mazz in the Globe pretty much sums it up. His view pretty much articulates mine. Unless we get that starter we are worse off than last year and the rest of the top teams in the AL are passing us by. ( BTW Only about 15 % of Red Sox fans voting in the Globe poll think this team is ranked 1 or 2 in the league. About 40% don't think they'll make the palyoffs.)
