  1. We are talking about the press genericly. Boston is a baseball town always has been. The Boston sports press whether written or elctronic are pretty accurate. They just always don't report what they really know. Their reporting will also change things. For example, some stuff gets leaked to the press to get a sense of how it will play and it doesn't go over well so it doesn't happen. Was the press wrong? I don't think so. BTW never argue with a man who buys his ink by the barrel is still true. Nobody wins in Boston by taking on both the Globe and Herald. May be one but not both. And I wouldn't want the Globe to be against me if I were a Boston sports figure. Life would be quite unpleasant.
  2. Absolkutely, mlb radio predicted this was his strategy weeks ago.
  3. Several analysts opined that this was Oswalt's plan all along since neither the Rangers nor Cardinals wanted him now. The thinking is that he has only about 25 starts in him so better late in the year when injuries may force possible contenders like the Rangers and Cardinals to come calling. I would be really surprised to see him pitching for any ALE team.
  4. As opposed to old and cranky like yours truly!
  5. You have to know I hear all kind of wild stories everyday in my professional life and this sounds like one of those.
  6. Brennan, my gosh glad you found your way here.
  7. IMHO opinion it is a good cover story. Carl understands how bad things were back here and this is a great face saving way to get things back to even keel. From my point of view if you buy the number changing story there is this bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell.
  8. I think more writers and baseball people are coming to that conclusion. The general feeling now is that Oswalt has at best 25 starts in him. The thinking is that he'll stay in shape and wait a call come June when injuries affect staffs. The consensus the only Al team he'll play for is Texas.
  9. Read the article and I only counted three and none in the top fifty. With 30 teams in MLB, having only three in the top 100 and none in the top 50 is below average. Which BTW is to be expected since they traded a number ot their top prospects to get A-Gon.
  10. My wife and I have been to dozens of baseball games in Philly with no problem. Phillies fans are rabid but don't exhibit the kind of thug behavior that you get at Eagles games. Citizens bank park is a great venue to watch a baseball game. When the Phillies score it can be the loudest outdoor park in baseball. Enjoy!
  11. The commissioner has wide powers under the best interests of baseball cluase. Plus both teams asked the commissioner to intervene. The clubs will accept the commissioners ruling. IMHO
  12. Excellent discussion. I learned a lot including the fact that it iis probably best to let Roy play elsewhere.
  13. The Saga of Roy Oswalt has become a "Neverending Story"
  14. A picture is worth 10,000 words. Well put!
  15. Tell me about it! I just spent the afternoon watching the 2nd game of the Australian Baseball League Championship series. Melbourne Aces just went ahead of the Perth Heat in the 13th 3-2.
  16. Who is disparaging it. Groundhog Day is one of my favorite movies.
  17. What to mean non event! It ranks just after Ground Hog Day and Sadie Hawkins Day as important February holidays.
  18. Anyone wishing to see live competetive baseball the Australian League Championship is on the MLB TV network. Not bad. They annoucers said the Giants were watching yesterday's game and offered on the players a contract. Coup[le of former ML players are in the game.
  19. Would it be worse if she inherited Youk's brains?
  20. Maybe he needed someone to lick his wounds.
