  1. I agree with your assessment. When was the last time Youk played a full year, if ever? Anyone who watches him play knows he is highly likely to spend one or two stints on the DL next year regardless of how often he DH's. I for one don't believe he'll play more than 110 games next year.
  2. I recall Orel Hersheiser making a similar observation that you made . From what I recall from other analysts Buccholtz's stress fracture may be a combination of both poor mechanics and the fact that he put on some additional weight needed to maintain endurance at the major league level. I just think it is overly optomistc to believe Buccholtz can pitch an entire year without some time out next year.
  3. I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Since Ramirez was originally Red Sox property and since Mass General is Mass General it is entirely possible even probable that any medical exam was just that a medical checkup for the Marlins. Then again who knows.
  4. I think the Sox are really pushing defense this year hence getting Sweeny and Shoppach and moving Reddick et al. For this reason, I wouldn't be surprised to Iglesias more this year. Reddick's outfield play was shaky at best in addition to his lack of patience at the plate. Every time a ball was hit in Reddick's direction, I held my breath
  5. From the interview I saw I think Bard really wants to be a starter. I think the Sox are acceding to his wishes mainly because he has been such an asset. If he isn't effective starting I think Bard is the type of kid who would tell the team he is ready to do back to the pen. But they will give him ample opportunity to prove himself before that happens. IMHO
  6. I can't see him throwing a pitch in the majors before September. Barring injuries to other pitchers, I can't see them bringing him up before rosters expand unless there was an emergency or they were desperate.
  7. From my understanding, they just need to be under by 2013 or 2014 because the new bargaining agreement increased the penalties for going over the LT. So that's why a 1 year deal for Oswalt is so beneficial for the Sox. That was the explanation I heard from Steve Buckley and Dan Shaughnessey about two weeks ago
  8. Oswalt would be fine but if there is another ML ready starter out there who can be a nbr 4 or 5 then I am ok with that.
  9. Yes but at some point age catches up with everyone. My point is that one year maybe because he has an incentive. Two years no incentive the first year.
  10. The big problem besides the money, if they sign Ortiz to a two year deal to avoid an arbitration finding is whether Ortiz can still compete at the ML level the second year never mind this year. While he had a great year last year, how much longer can he keep it up? In the post steroid era, older ballplayers go down hill quickly especially those carrying Ortiz's weight.
  11. Good point. I'd love to hear an explanation from the FO
  12. I must believe that Ben wouldn'thave made the Scuturo deal without having the Oswalt deal or some other alternative very close to done. Ben is too deliberate to make such a move without a backup plan. But until it is done many including me are keeping our fingers crossed.
  13. There is no reason for you to be so insulting all the time. You amended your remarks and arre now clarifying what you said. When I said that the first time you lashed out in your usual insulting manner. What you posted then is diffferent from your latest post. All you have to do is admit you made a mistake but you can't. You were caught in a lie and became defensive and lashed out. That's your MO. You are quick to tell other posters to stop now I am returning the favor. Stop being such a pompous twit!
  14. I would hope that they would have had the Oswalt deal pretty close to done before they would have finalized the Scutoro deal.
  15. That has absolutely nothing to do with your lying when you said that you hadn't called anyone an idiot. when you had called most analysts idiots in the same thread two hours before. Like I said all you do is spout insults and call people names. You certainly act like a hater to me. As for the Scutoro trade, we'll wait and see just like Fred said. Regarding the trade for now I am pleasantly surprised. But you just keep on insulting people and denying you do it. It seems that is what you are best at.
  16. Still waiting for explanation your idiot flip flop:. All you can do is hurl insults.
  17. You called people idiots and then less than two hours later on the same thread you deny calling anyone an idiot. You've have lost any credibility. Blah Blah Blah!!
  18. You have no right to call anyone out!
  19. If this happens I'll be pleasantly surprised. I am not a big Scuturo fan, so I won't be disappointed to see him go. I thought that Youk would been the more likely infielder to go. I am anxious to see who they pick up and whether it does mean Oswalt in the end.
