  1. So, the bottom line is if Ortiz leaves who do we get to fill in at DH?
  2. At least they got someone. My fear was that they wouldn't find someone until maybe after the Winter Meetings or something.
  3. You are probably right. I didnt know it was that bad over there. Ok, so it could be a far off possibility?
  4. I dont know if the Giants would be so quick to want to let him go.
  5. I said this in another thread as well, that I didnt think Matt Clement was really a bust. Well ok in terms of the money lost yes you can say that but his down fall was when he got hit in the face with ball comming at him. He was never the same after that. I know he had 17-18 wins by that time. Had he not got hit I think he would have had well over 20 wins.
  6. As more and more reports come out about how a majority of the players acted, I have lost almost all respect for the 2011 team. They should be ashamed of themselves. This is NOT a good time to be a Red Sox fan.
  7. I would agree on that. If it is true then the Cubs must look like a gold mine to him. Considering the more control he would have.
  8. Thank you Theo for the 2 WS and the good choices you made for our "Olde Towne Team". I wish you luck building up the Cubs. (It would actually be nice to see them win). I just hope we get someone who fits into our organization nicely.
  9. I think the doc. Catching Hell confused me about Bill Buckner. They made it seem like we got this really great player from the Cubs when he came to Boston. But I guess from reading all the posts that Bill wasnt as great as he was supposed to be. I believe I was in 8th grade in 86' so I wasn't aware as to who was supposed to be good (well I knew the pitchers anyway). Like some people I dont think I even paid that much attention to game 7 because I was so upset about game 6. I just figured it was over anyway and there was no chance for us to win the next game. The whole experience was just pretty bad in general. How and why did we get Buckner anyway. Who did we trade for him?
  10. I know I may get dragged out of here and shot for say this but: Couldn't another argument (should I dare say it) in defence be that the bats have been pretty weak in suport or him during his games recently. By recently I mean in the last couple of years? I mean that could be a factor in him losing games as well. Ok ok, go easy on me, Im still new to the whole forum here but I will get shot with dignity.
  11. I could see him as a coach.
  12. I understand that as well. But in 2004 (yes I know even when it was a playoff series) it seemed like the "idiots" took a casual attitude as well when they were down 0-3 to the Yanks. Hell even, Manny was saying there is always next year. But then again that was a different group of guys so I guess you really cant compare. Pluse it was a different situation as well. :dunno:
  13. Yes I think your right on that. I think what I meant to say was how he was treated in his personal life. I didnt realize that he didnt really man up to that mistake at first base. I guess thats why his teamates said he was "fine" a little while after the game.
  14. Also that was only game 6 but to the media that didnt matter. That was the difining moment of the whole series. I feel bad for Buc and what the media and "we" the fans put him through. He was a good player and he made a mistake. I not saying that our team this Sept. didnt want to win Im sure more then anybody they wanted it. It just looked like they didnt after loosing game after game.
  15. I saw that doc. Catching Hell as well. I thought it was really well done. I didnt realize just how much the Cubs and Sox had in common with all the f**k ups. In terms of Bill Buckner's mess up, I agree, there were many other f**k ups way before that in the game. The players were upset but they didnt jump off a bridge. Even in the doc. they said that Buc was ok after a while. It was the media that he was bitter with because they are the ones that focused on just what HE did and not other plays.
  16. I am very sad that Verlander couldn't come through and that the Tigers lost the first game. That is all I am going to say at this point. :thumbdown
  17. Im wondering, just how much the FO is aware of what goes on in the clubhouse. They cant be that nieve......um, could they?
  18. I read somewhere that Fenway has another 50 years (at least) to go before the question of really doing something about it is brought up again.
  19. Im hoping when Verlander of the Tigers pitches again he kicks some serious ass.
  20. Oh I know what you mean. I have seen those pictures many times. Back then I know it was very normal to have that. I figured maybe in this time and age it would be distracting to the batter. Then again I know that during day games they section off a small part at the end of the bleachers to prevent that. Its always interesting to me how the park changes every season even if its really tiny.
  21. Actually you know what they could really do away with, is all the advertisements on the Green Monster. It doesn't look right. They can keep the Jimmy Fund sign up though, thats important.
  22. Im thinking maybe Detroit in 6 actually but either way Tigers take it.
