  1. I could see that as a loose possibility. Even if he came back as like a so called "special advisor", maybe that could help change some of the negative attitudes in the club house. Hell at this point I wouldn't even mind if they brought back Wakefield for that role. However I really dont think its Valentines fault as much as it is the players.
  2. The Blue Jays (at this point) are in last place and I have more respect for them then I do my own team. Thats saying something and its also very sad.
  3. I know I may get shot for this, but I think we should at least give Valentine until the end of his contract. What is it like 2 years? I agree that he hasn't done the best job but we just hired the guy. I blame the players first and then higher management. Its not like we really have people waiting in line to take Valentines place anyway. Right now he just happens to be the middle man in a very messed up organization with bad attitudes.
  4. Its pretty clear that Beckett shows a "I don't care" feeling when it comes to pitching (at least here in Boston anyway). But who would take him in a trade?
  5. Yeah I guess its not looking too good if our players are getting injured or re-injured befor the regular season. I hope this isn't a sign of what this season is going to be like.
  6. Tim, thank you for everything you have done for us and our "Old Towne Team". You will be missed.
  7. I feel the same way. I think Im thinking of him too much as a bullpen guy just based on what he did this past season. However since I am assuming that this will be a rebuilding period the Sox should take the risk.
  8. Kinda feel sorry for the A's letting everyone go it seems. Decent deal for us though. Just glade we were able to replace Pap. Who knows, maybe Bailey will pitch really great at Fenway.
  9. But who could we get for Beckett that would be really worth trading for? Excuse me for being nieve but I just dont see it happening unless something drastic happens.
  10. WOW!!!:angry::thumbdown
  11. Do you think he said that just for the sake of saying it because its the Red Sox or do you all think he meant it. It would mean more if he truly meant it.
  12. I thought the news said that he did, no? I am so confused.
  13. Would Bill really want to come back at all?
  14. That in itself could be interesting enough and worth it.
  15. I guess Im not TOO suprised that this happend. It does suck but I had a feeling Pap might not return for next season with us. Now we try to figure out who are next closer should be. Got to hand it to the Phillies though. They took advantage of a situation quick.
  16. You all know it wasnt like this back in the 70's and early 80's.
  17. I forget when they started Sweet Caroline and also um.........why?
  18. Rangers pitching coach, Mike Maddux I believe is on the "serious list" of possibilities. What do you all think of him?
  19. Im 40 and have been going to Fenway since 1976, (yeah I know thats young to some of you). You know ever since we won in 2004 I have noticed major changes in the music at Fenway. I really dont like the way it is now. I kinda do like it when Papelbon comes out and they play a small bit of the Dropkick Murphys song for him. However I think it would be better if they did that music when we are like down one and we need to rally up. I think that would be appropriate. Things are just way too loud now. I wouldn't dought if some of that music scares some of the younger kids.
  20. To answere the orginal question, I would say no.
  21. Your very right on that. Its almost like everyone knew how Lackey pitched at Fenway except Theo himself. Im trying to figure out Theo's reasoning on signing Lackey in the first place. Hey Im no baseball expert here and I will be the first to admit that. However even I knew how he pitched. I was pretty shocked when we got Lackey at first.
  22. If thats the case, couldn't we tap into our farm system and see what we truely have?
