  1. The other thing I would like about making a few changes now is that I think it is easier to try some of this kinda' stuff on the road. Nothing has to be permanent anyway. When you are going this badly it makes little sense to drag the same nine out there everyday when guys who have proven they can play a little are growing grey on the bench. If the guys we are talking about giving some playing to had been chopped liver well then I would have to call myself crazy...but they have not been chopped liver and they are just sitting there.
  2. We have had a few First Ladies that were shall we say, less than attractive and you are right Youk....I don't think Mrs Ike ever had a high water mark in that regardl
  3. They do K like crazy....especially when Salty is in the lineup. Ortiz talking about having some discomfort in his YOU KNOW WHATS!
  4. I would have called myself crazy then also Tyler with the exception of having wanted Vic at the top with Ells right behind him as I think that would have been a better way to use those two assets. I just want them to find a way, while things are this crappy to get Nava more at bats and get Carp SOME at bats. I don't know if he is in the dog house or not but he does not seem to be getting any AB's and our offense is at present kinda' terrible. I think Nava and/or Carp might more readily drop into the offensive approach that we had earlier in the season as well and one or both of them might help coax the lineup back to a more effective approach. I think we did see a little bit of it tonight with a few guys trying to push us in the right direction. More patience from some of them for one thing.
  5. And I am not claiming to know what the lineup should be but I just don't think we can hang with this lineup as is cause I think we have guys on the bench that can help this offense that are not getting a chance to play. The most sensible places to go look for some offense are the outfield positions. Dropping Nava or Carp into 1st base once and awhile might not be a bad idea either but I am reluctant to sit Naps too often. There is nobody else that even has the potential to be that second bat with Ortiz in the middle of the lineup. Plus Gomes is not doing anything and Ells is doing very little. We could move Vic to lead off and drop Nava in behind him followed by Pedey, Ortiz, etc. When Ells is in the lineup I would drop him probably all the way to 9th against LH pitchers....maybe 7th against RH pitchers depending on who else is playing.
  6. Remember where Lackey is in this rotation. Unfortunately for him he got Moore tonight and our anemic offense. Please Mr Farrell, shake up this lineup. Gotta' do something cause this is not working. I know I have said it before but I want either Nava or Carp in the lineup everyday. Prefer Nava but suddenly Carp seems to have found his way to Farrell's dog house or something. Farrell looks like he is trying to get Gomes AB's and I am not real sure why that makes sense while we end up with Carp growing barnacles on the bench. I have even suggested that at least once and awhile during this stretch I would sit both Ells and Gomes, move Vic to CF and play both Nava and Carp in the same game. May sound strange but last we saw of those two guys they were hitting. They are patient hitters and they are not at least as far as I know fouled up......yet.
  7. Lackey was far from terrible tonight in spite of my complaints. He probably should have ended up in a 3-3 tie game and leaving at some point with the tie. But I just don't have any confidence that they would have pulled that out either....not in the depths they are in right now. I had posted all off season that I felt pitching was becoming even more dominant....more like it was in the old days of the 1970's and earlier. So far that has been the case even just comparing year over year, month by month stats. Pitchers are seriously shutting teams down. So it is much easier to get out-pitched this year. But even given that, our offense is non-existant. Sure the game seems to be going back to the pitching dominance of old but we have had no offense at all of late.
  8. Boy that was a somber looking group leaving the dugout. "We came....we sat....we lost....we left"
  9. Naps got an RBI in that last game as well but RBI's have been free falling for him. We really need RBI's from him as Ortiz alone can't get it done. Of course the only way he could have gotten an RBI this last at bat would have been to hit a HR. As disappointing at the RISP output has been, when you are not getting it from your two big power bats or only one of them, you are really in a lotta' trouble. Took the words right outta' my mouth Station.
  10. I have to admit that as critical as I have been of the approach, I really thought they would loosen up a bit staked to a 3 run lead. How do you get a 3 run lead in the first and totally s*** the bed from there on. Staggeringly disappointing and downright scary.
  11. Well is at least getting some walks tonight but that is not the norm. For me that is the other shoe dropping on having Ells at the top of the order. Obviously I have picked a bad night to make that point but we all have seen enough of Ells to know he just does not draw walks like you expect from a lead off guy. Have wanted Vic at the top from the a week into the season really. Although at that point I just wanted Vic and Ells to switch.
  12. Yup, we have had some totally serviceable starts just wasted lately....starts that 90% of pitchers would consider great...and one wasted that was absolutely a great start by any standard of measure. I do think the only way we have a shot to go back to the approach we had at the start of the season is going to be first dropping Ells in the order. He is just murder up there at the top and I don't see him turning it around any time soon. He has become the tail end of the death march that is the bottom or our order once the game gets going. Jeez this is exactly where Lavs was last time he was up in the reg season. When he did stroke it good it was right at somebody.
  13. As much as we (I) was depending on Lester and Buch to be the standard bearers, with their performances pacing the Sox either up or down, lately it looks like games they pitch are the only games we have a shot at winning. That said, clearly none of us would have thouht that the Sox were as good as they looked through April and they are not as bad as they have looked since late April into May.
  14. Now this ump is pissing me off that was a f***ing strike
  15. The Sox "beards" don't stay at the plate long enough for it to bother me. Bing-bang-bong.....3 strikes you're out!
  16. Moore making a laughing stock of the RH hitters at this point.
  17. Start it off Pedey....and here comes 100% of the offense Man that was right in David's wheelhouse
  18. f***ing ump is looking right at that pitch!...Justice prevails on the strike em' out throw em' out though
  19. Thank God...I was just going to post that I did not think we would have a shot if they kept Lackey out there. Just did not have it tonight and was letting too much s*** get to him as well. I know Lavs is just a kid but when you start shaking off entire pitch sequences you have just sort of lost your place in the book. First time Lackey has pulled one of these this year...I think.
  20. Good eye there Ells....his swings looked awful though.
  21. Maybe Ells will work a walk here. He looks pathetic this AB
  22. We have had everything from junkers to hard throwers have their way with us....in fact I think more junkers than hard throwers lately.
  23. Who knows what the Sox would have gotten outta' the 1st inning if Moore had not hit Ells. As for Ells arm...it has always been pathetic.
