  1. How do you have that good an eye. Ortiz swings at a pitch that was actually pretty close to a great pitch to hit for a LH hitter which was also a strike and then lays off a pitch maybe an inch lower that was ....oh by the way a ball
  2. They were not going to get Pedey with that all night....thank God
  3. Is that maybe the best stint Miller has had in two seasons?
  4. You knew they would do it this way.....I think there is a Red Sox Manual out there someplace that says this is how WE do it. Not that bad though....Its not like he will have a tough time getting to Boston after making a AAA appearance.
  5. I thought it would be something like that. So now we really don't like what the data says so we will rationalize it. Compare it to other RH hitters that should be spraying the ball. See if you like that comparison. I think we will just have to have another agree to disagree....respectfully though...you're one of the more knowledgable posters here.
  6. Miller has really been much better of late. Almost a 180* turn when you consider where he was not too long ago. May have had an attitude adjustment also. Seems more serious about his game although that is obviously a view from afar.
  7. OK, UN, you go to the ESPN site, Bring up WMB's Hot Zones and tell me what you think about the 2012 and 2013 Hot zone data and then the 2013 Hot Zone data by itself.
  8. Nobody has showed me spray charts and hit charts. They have been referred to and I would fully acknowledge the direction he was headed earlier in his career. I would say that for what power he is likely to show to all fields going forward WMB will end up being penalized by the number of times he just misses the pitch that starts at or below the belt-line and on the outer half but ends up farther out and or lower. I just don't think he is Pedey as a hitter. He may be just as good or even better as he matures....just not the same. Whereas, he gets anything middle in and not only does he seldom miss it...he seldom hits singles either. He crushes those...at least he does now. That was not the case when he came up. Coming up his hitting was fairly evenly dispersed. In fact if you look at Baseball Analytics there is a chart there and a comment that he is now mostly crushing pitches up or in specifically suggesting that this is how he hits now...not before.
  9. I guess NESN is going to do a little something to pump Vaaquez tires. He must have gone on a bit of a hitting streak in Portland. I looked about a month ago and again just now. Seems like he has lifted his average at least from earlier. The rest of his line is not so great yet but average does look better.
  10. Once WMB learned to turn his hips he has become a monster with anything middle in hitting for extra bases and HR's all over the place. He did not come up to the majors even knowing how to turn on the ball. So I would have agreed had he continued as he was when he came up. But now he has shown the ability to absolutely crush balls middle in. Look the greatest hitter that ever lived worked with a smaller strike zone...and the greatest mistake pitch hitters that ever lived worked with a smaller strike zone. Like I said, if he stayed exactly as he was when he came up, I would have agreed.
  11. Better to lay off of it entirely with less than two strikes. They should not try to turn him into a spray to all fields hitter IMO.
  12. There is that location again that is just death for WMB At some point gotta' give Worley credit though. He has had that pitch starting on the outer third and finishing just off the plate all night....has gotten Pedey twice at least...I think now Will twice with it. Usually Pedey has a chance to handle that but Pedey has been so flummoxed that he has taken half hearted swings at it. Worley gone thank God
  13. Really great job...does not have his best stuff...struggling even to keep his motion consistent and has to deal with Morneau with the bases loaded...great job
  14. Nava actually had a shot at that and seemed to think he was not going to get there. If he had gone hard the whole way I think he would have had it..tough play though... We are probably going to pay for these ump calls somewhere along the way tonight. This guy is blind
  15. More like a snapped arm throw
  16. Please God no Salty.....bound to throw it into RF
  17. Damn....Clay has been just all over the map with his motion the last couple innings....seems to be pitching on fumes tonight for some reason. If you can't get him any runs at least get him a DP
  18. If Farrell finally pulls Ells from the lineup for a day of rest however needed, Farrell is just not getting it. He needs to maybe give him a game off but he definitely needs to get him outta' the top of the order. Not sure what you were trying to do with that Pedey. Don't need you trying to bash the thing outta' the park there. I nice little rally would have been fine. Might be trying to take too much of this on his shoulders especially with Naps and Vic out of the lineup.
  19. Lets see...what did I miss? Nava is up and Salty is on 1st with one out...must have been another exciting Ellsbury AB
  20. OK guys....I think we have had our quota of D-mac dribblers for the night. Time to get Buch some runs
  21. Come on Buch get back on track here. He is going to throw one right down main st sooner or later
  22. Buch's arm angle has dropped
  23. Nice play there...not sure the last one was as catchable there Don.
  24. Jeez has anybody been to that park? Where do they have that statue of Puckett buried. It looks like he is riding the statue pine way out there in some back alley.
  25. Well lets not get too crazy here Jerry Remo. Two inches more of plate and that would have been a good pitch from Buch for the LH hitter. That was a hell of a piece of hitting to jerk that thing out....from the guy batting 9 no less. One of the things that amazes you about ML pitchers is a recognition of how good ML hitters really are. Ask Mr Webster.
