  1. I forgive you...good AB Ross
  2. Where the hell are you trying to go Ross? Jeez are these guys f***ed up
  3. Ump should have no excuses today...beautiful day to be making ball/strike calls. Day game with no sun.
  4. This is the danger with the Jays. I am not even going to say what could happen next. Very nice job there Buch...did not knuckle under AT ALL to Encarnacion Man Buch got away with that last pitch though...should have been on the Mass pike
  5. WMB swung at a ball there...outside no less
  6. Hitting "streaks" are streaky. Hitters going really good are often just right on that edge....getting balls they can handle but just barely maybe and then just an inch over that edge and it all goes to s***. Remember AGons last year taking everything to LF effortlessly until he thought he had a plan and became obsessive about going to LF. As soon as that happened he was meat. Pitchers knew exactly what he was doing and ate him up. Ortiz is reaching a bit for pitches. Naps is totally f***ed up at this point as he has two strikes when he is leaving the batters box.WMB is still basically trying to wade through quicksand. Vic and Pedey have their stupid HR contest going and Ells has been meat. He is not even getting any walks. Drew has started to hit some. Nava is still Nava thank God. I think they have to get Carp back in this lineup as well. Either Nava or Carp have got to be in this lineup at this point in my view.
  7. Funny now but before the game started I was going to post that this is just the sort of guy that gives us fits but I did not want to post something like that before a pitch had even been thrown but Holy s***!
  8. No Naps there is not a hole in your bat...it aint that...stop looking at the thing and use it
  9. Oh for crying out loud
  10. More terrific defense from WMB who has improved his defense at least 100% over last year's model. Defense with the exception of the Vic play has kept them in this game
  11. My God this team is so fouled up right now. We have little guys trying to go yard...big guys trying to go the opposite way just trying to get their bats on the ball and then here comes that sterling bottom of the order.
  12. Damn it that was a nothing pitch to Ross.....we have got to start tagging this bum
  13. That would have bounced off Salty's guard
  14. Boy I hate what we are doing at the plate up and down the order....making this bum look like he is on the way to the Cy Young. He is pitching a good game but this is ridiculous.
  15. I thought I was seeing things Pal. Remy keeps saying there would not have been a play at the plate anyway. That camera view from right behind Vic seemed to suggest that Vic was in middle to short RF and Lind was just turning third. I think Remy is just plain wrong on this one.
  16. Never as good as you look winning nor as bad as you look going the other way. This may look like a terrible start for Buch but it should not be entirely unexpected. It is not like he is just blowing up out there on the mound....not yet anyway.
  17. Another nice play by the Sox defense, this one by WMB
  18. If it were not Cabrera in left that would have been a terrible play by Pedey. But considering Cabrera is a rusty old cart in LF I could see Pedey trying that. That ball just came right back to Cabrera unfortunately and he made a good throw.
  19. Where the hell were you trying to go with that Vic.....
  20. More relevant, I should hope than sealing a loss for Buch this early in a game....I am a bit concerned that we are behind so often in many of these games now....no longer scoring first in games. As we have discussed here before, this game is so much easier to play from in front. Last year we were behind so often. This is also why in part we consider teams that can come back tough and scrappy. It is not the easier way to get to a win....not by a long shot.
  21. Ells started the year OK when he was getting balls in the inner half to hit. Since they have been feeding him sliders down and away he has become WMB only from the other side of the plate. In fact they have been getting Ortiz more on stuff low and away lately as well.
  22. Hell of a play by Ross...no way I thought the catcher was going to make that play..thought that would be WMB or nothing. It would have been a hell of a play if WMB had made it as that was a terrific bunt
  23. I will have to check Brooks for today's hit but it seems WMB is taking pitches that he should be pulling and hitting them the other way though. That is not the cure we are looking for. He pulls stuff for HR's. Its the stuff he can't pull that he should either stay off of or foul off if he has two strikes. Taking stuff in the middle of the plate or in from the middle and shooting it to RF is not the direction he should be going toward. Last night's was definitely on the inner half. I really did not see where this pitch was today.
  24. As much of a mess as the Sox were in 2012, there would not seem much that could compare to how this has gone for the Jays. I can remember that first series of the year thinking how utterly detached this team seemed, how uninvolved..... asleep really it seemed with Reyes the only guy producing and THEN everything went sideways.....However it was very much like they knew it was all going to go sideways and they were just waiting for stuff to happen. Never have seen anything quite like that before
  25. Well I think it probably does make sense to treat a pitcher's errors the same way as errors generally when discussing ERA because we have always used ERA as a means to discuss a pitcher's pitching performance as opposed to his overall performance as a player. This is a slippery slope anyway. We don't treat a hitter's intentional passes differently than walks he earns by being selective. There are traps like ERA and pitcher's fielding performance all over baseball. Would people prefer that ERA be more of a measure of a pitcher's performance as a player? Maybe that is where the discussion of that specific topic should be.
