  1. hahaha yeah! I really thought they were going to land at least a No. 1. There's still time, hopefully they get it done.
  2. The whole rotation is a crap shoot, Ted. Geez They better land a No1. otherwise my trip to Boston won't worth it hahah.
  3. haha I'm not arguing the big letters. Still I do not like the "they can start the year with what they have, and retool on the run during the season" since it could be too late at the time or maybe no one valuable could be available.
  4. yeah... but not all fans will drink that kool aid.
  5. I do not like the "we'll be ok with a mediocre rotation since the ALE is mediocre" approach at all. Sorry but that is pathetic and L thinking. As you said, Porcello is our No. 1 right now. It sounds scary to me. He won't match other teams' No 1s.
  6. What kool aid? nonsense? haha come on man, I know you like Cherrys and all but your boy has been saying over and over again in all media that he feels comfortable and confident with the current rotation going forward, because he thinks it is oks and solid. Sorry but I do not buy that kool aid at all, It is pathetic; it is a bunch of #4s with injury prone issues. Is it a PR strategy? IDK. Maybe they do not want the fans get panic or maybe they are just afraid about tickets or a bit concern about TV rating going forward. IDK. Again....I do not buy that kool aid at all.
  7. Agreed Fred. We do not have to drink Cherrys Kool Aid. Sorry and maybe some will get angry but As it is, this rotation is a joke.
  8. Yeah, that too. As I said, if I were the Nats I wouldnt trade anybody. That rotation is nasty as it is, the best in majors IMO.
  9. For nothing? Lol If they make the WS, it won't be for nothing. They are in a very good position to win it all. Besides they could easily extend their contracts or go for other arms as well in 2016.
  10. If i were the Nats I wouldn't trade any of their current SPs either. It's crazy, while our #1 these days is Porcello, their #5 is Fister lol
  11. Yup, pitching. Just as Pal said
  12. I do not agree. As it is, I think that it could be too late to make a move in July.
  13. Not sure if Bill James is behind of not signing Shields, but as You said, it would be a mistake letting pass this opportunity with this kind of arm considering as well the price even if it drove up a bit.
  14. I like Bill James and all but Is it me or Bill James is a bit overrated?. Not sure how's his hit rate predicting these days but I do not think it is very good.
  15. Yup. 100 M would be a very fair contract for all parts.
  16. JZ would be my pick if we go via trade, but again, he will cost us top prospects and we do not need to do that.
  17. I'm supporting Pal's post since he said "The Sox need to find top tier pitching somewhere" and not the mechanism, but considering the signs showed recently by our FO I think they will do it (if so) via trading which would be absurd as I said . I agree with you, the best way to land SP is via FA without giving up any prospect.
  18. Well, say he signs for 5 Y and if the guy posts 3/5 Y good numbers (which is perfectly achievable), 1/5 Y league average numbers and 1/5 bad numbers, call it deal.
  19. Not sure what you mean with this but just as Pal said I am also tired of prospects that don't work out. The Sox need to find top tier pitching somewhere, hopefully via FA since they have money, and they clearly aren't paying top dollar on anyone these days.
  20. I would start signing Shields this offseason without giving up any top prospect and in 2016, I would sign another elite arm to round the rotation.
  21. 100 times this. As it seems, the more likely way (if so) to do this will be via trading which would be absolutely absurd, considering that Shields is still there and 100 M wouldn't hurt by any means JH's economy.
  22. haha So? You have at least to try to put your best version (on paper), then anything can happen.
  23. This should be the strategy since we are likely one piece away to win it all on paper.
  24. In all fairness, did 2012 rotation have this expectations at the beginning of that year?
  25. Also I have to say that some of us in August, on the other hand, predicted that collapse.
