  1. No more 7-run rule anymore Farrell? Sky is falling.
  2. Well, it was really quick.
  3. I still do not understand why but in the land of the lord you have black sheeps as well.
  4. Not sure why Kelly is not in the BP already.
  5. LOL! We had had a civil discussion with Kim, sk, bell, etc. I do not think we have insulted them; sure we have disagreed in some points but as long as I know it has been civil.
  6. I was trying to be polite and fair, trying to make sure that you and everyone else got the conditions of the bet. Nothing more, nothing less. If you took it in the wrong way it is up to you. Said that and hasty or not you have to pay.
  7. The strategy was horrible since day one. They built a horrible pitching staff. A lot of question marks on the field as well. Now seems to be too late.
  8. The discussion has been civil, no one has been offended as long as I know, until U? appeared. Hopefully you do not make excuses, sorry you do not get offended, when it is time to pay me the bet.
  9. I do love high K/9 pitchers, who doesn't?... but when you look at a guy like Mark Buehrle, you have to consider him even with his low K/9 since he has a good command and excellent BB/9. He has a 3.82 career ERA over 16 SEASONS in which most of them he posted 3+, 4+ and even 5+ WAR numbers; and not to mention that he has been durable. In my book it is called consistency. I love consistency and durability regardless the stuff behind, reason why I like Lester, Shields, Buehrle, Papelbon, etc. Look, He is 36 YO and he is under 4 ERA these days. He is probably one of the most underestimated pitchers ever. Bring me 4 Buehrles' career numbers pitchers and I sign them anyday. Porcello's best WAR number is 2.8 through 6 seasons LOL!. Buherle posted 4 WAR in his second year of service, so... comparing him with Porcello just because both have low K/9 (Buehrle even below) is stupid.
  10. It is pretty clear that this is on Porcello, but U? does not like listen the true even when it is evident.
  11. Yup, while everybody here is talking about baseball (regardless you agree or disagree), he always starts s*** up. Hopefully the mods are taking note.
  12. As I said, When you sign a 80 M pitcher you let him perform as he used to. As I said it as well, it was very unlikely that this FO and coaching staff had something to do with this particular thing --Porcello's approach. I do not think they are that stupid. Said that, It's going to be interesting to know why he decided to change his approach. Probably he tried to increase his K/9, IDK. Either way and if that is the reason, it has not worked out thus far. His K/9 is still mediocre (6.9). If the theory regarding his K/9 improvemt is correct, He has to realize that he is not by any means a K/9 pitcher for once and for all.
  13. That's actually what the problem seems to be. "You see misexecuted pitches that lead to pitches just off the edge," Farrell said. "Inside of those innings where those mislocations are happening it's in the middle of the plate, it's not to the extreme. That's what we're trying to slow the game down in those moments and be more clear with the execution."
  14. Is it me or do we have a Bard 2.0 gestating here? LOL!
  15. It is still pure speculation. IMO the coaching staff has nothing to do with this. This is exclusively on Porcello. On the other hand and as you said, the FO would know this, and would change that if they felt it wasn't the right thing to do.
  16. Well, when you bet you have to put behind your feelings, fandom and preferences otherwise you will lose big time; it is hard I know but if you want a real chance to win you have to do it. Regarding Porcello, he simply is a bad pitcher, Kim. I already rest my case to prove that and time is giving me reason thus far. It is what it is. Probably some people around here still disagree with me and it is fine, but it won't change that fact. I do not get satisfaction when he is pounded every 5th night, trust me... But it won't change the fact that he is a bad pitcher, and it is beyond my fandom, so the least thing I can do is take that opportunity and make some cash and you can not blame for that, it is as simple as that.
  17. We'll see it next four years.
  18. Kim, if the approach is the problem, when do you think, he is going to start adjusting the actual approach ... Next start? Next year?, when? Also, Is it fair to say that his adjustments to the actual approach have already begun a couple of games ago but it has not worked out as he wished?
  19. Everybody was after Moncada at the time. Hopefully he is the real deal.
  20. Yup, but it is likely. As I said, I'm willing to bet my sign with you to make it interesting and fun.
  21. Thing is that even a good defense is not going to save him every night since everybody makes him contact... Every night. This will tax him sooner or later make him inconsistent and difficult to keep his ERA below 4.
  22. His SIERA this year looks like his career SIERA. 4... And you have to take it with a grain of salt. His HR/FB rate has been likely the same (even below) when he posted his best WAR number (2.8) in 2013. Also he has the same K/9 (even below) of that year. His BB/9 is also likely the same. In the end there is no reason to think that he is going to post a 3.7 or so constantly in the next 4 years when he posted 4.3 ERA in his best WAR year.
  23. I think he is something around 4.5 (No. 4 type). Trying to answer your question, Unlikely DET, he will face tougher offenses in the ALE ike Toronto, NYY , Baltimore and even TBR who are not that easy. Also, Fenway will not help him since everybody make him contact. Playing defense is not easy in Fenway, mostly if you have already locked out a guy like Panda playing 3B and Hanley LF. And finally he will always depend on his defense since he has a horrible K/9. When you mix all of the above, here you have the results.
  24. I wouldn't use xFIP in Porcello. I would use SIERA since it considers batted balls. As long as I recall Steamer projected something in the low 4s. Actually his SIERA throughout 6 years is in the low 4s reason why I was willing to bet with you. Anyways, IMO he is never going to post something around 3.7 and much more less in every year of his remaining contract in Boston. I'm willing to bet my sign again year after year with you to make it interesting, unless you want to bet something else.
  25. Yup, Porcello's stuff is about the same asaide 2014. It is in the neighborhood of 4.5+. This year is confirming that thus far.
