  1. This is the kind of situations when your pitching staff taxes your team in every possible way. Now, are you going to ask your offense to score at least 6 times more in order to win? LOL! Mentally, this offense is plain dead - tonight -... And then people will say that it's not the pitching but the offense, yeah sure!
  2. it's not rocket science. This is beyond stats. It's not complicated, it is plain and simple, actually. This pitching staff is garbage. It's horrible. When are we going to have, not a good rotation, but an average one? When?
  3. Our rotation is a joke.
  4. Give him a full time job already.
  5. We need to take advantage from this, go sox!
  6. Well, this is Clay Buch ladies and gentlemen.
  7. I think I wasn't a Sox fan at the time haha, but I'll google it.
  8. Toronto is batting machine, that L-Up is insane.
  9. Well, it has been that way for long time and IMO it is part of the game. Honestly, I don't remember Arroyo's case, and I'm not sure how many cases like his have happened.
  10. I did not see anything wrong, still I do not understand it haha.
  11. This is going to be tough one, hopefully Buch helps us to win this.
  12. That's good news, I took the day off to watch all the opening day games with a couple of friends haha
  13. Astros vs Yankees postponed. The Sox game seems to be in that way.
  14. I'm going to quote a couple of things to back up some of my early statements from FG: Perhaps one of the most controversial aspects of sabermetrics is the way in which WAR is used. Given the nature of the calculation and potential measurement errors, WAR should be used as a guide for separating groups of players and not as a precise estimate. League-average WAR rates vary. An average full-time position player is worth about 2 WAR, while average bench players contribute much less (typically between 0 and 1 WAR). Average starting pitchers also are worth around 2 WAR, while relief pitchers are considered superb if they crack +1 WAR. For position players and starting pitchers, here is a good rule-of-thumb chart: Scrub 0-1 WAR Role Player 1-2 WAR Solid Starter 2-3 WAR Good Player 3-4 WAR All-Star 4-5 WAR Superstar 5-6 WAR MVP 6+ WAR
  15. Porcello was a mistake since day one. When I think in Porcello's contract, it somehow reminds me BJ Upton's. Both were way absurd.
  16. I perfectly understand WAR, it's not rocket science as you always try to present it. Your typically "You don't really understand how WAR works or this or that" cliche/cop out that you use to sound interesting doesn't work for me. FYI, FWAR is not la panacea. BWAR, neither. They are just a value barometers among a lot others. MLB teams have their own stats and methodologies to mesure value, and this has been backed up early several times with several articles months ago here, and while some teams could use it as a decent "reference" among a lot others, it is just that, a "reference", so let's not pretend they use it solely to correlate salaries. Also the kool-aid thing was kinda joke. I think it is evident, but as always you take it so serious. Chill out, I've been always cool with Kim, I didn't even charge her the sig bet LOL! The BL is that only Kimmi and probably you (not sure) still think that Porcello is a top-of-a-rotation, and he isn't by any means. At this point I don't see any potential in that arm either. He simply is a bad pitcher who could be mediocre at very best. We'll see though.
  17. Hi Kimmi. Still, those numbers makes you a solid starter (No 3-4) at best according to the FG's rules of thumb (2-3 WAR). A top of a rotation guy is arguably around 4 WAR regardless what a specific year's numbers say (which change drastically every year). i.e. In a year basis if most of the pitchers post 3 WAR, it doesn't make you a top of a rotation guy by any means, what it tells you is that this specific year most of pitchers kinda sucked, since the history of pitcher's performance is plenty wide and likely will normalize to those FG's rules of thumb. Also, those who post a 4 WAR+ consistently are rare specimens, you won't find them in trees! and Porcello by any means is in that tier. Again, while WAR is a decent barometer to mesure value, MLB teams do not even use it to correlate with salaries. The links and info that supports this has already shown earlier months ago, so let's not pretend that he deserved that contract because he didn't. Numbers are there. I think you are the only one around here who still thinks that Porcello is a top-of-the-rotation-guy and he is not, he has never been and I really doubt that he will be someday soon. If you still want to drink Ben's cool-aid, fine, but I think it is time to accept the reality, he simply doesn't have the stuff to be a No. 1-2 pitcher, and unfortunately we have to live with that.
  18. I forgot it Kim, but it is ok.
  19. I think Kim still owns me her sig in that regard LOL
  20. Yup, that's kinda the scenario I was imagining.
  21. Also, I don't see Castillo staying in the minors. For good or for bad he is going to be in the roster through the length of his contract unless he is traded.
  22. If Porcello shits the bed I honestly don't see him in the BP. IMO he will end up the rest of his contract as the eternal No. 4-5 while clogging us a spot.
  23. Well, I just landed in Mexico City and this escalated quickly. UN? I just gave u a honest advise. You can keep bullying a guy who doesn't give a s*** of what you say or write about baseball. it's up to you. Case closed.
  24. Still Doji, it's no need to bully a poster. He is simply emmiting his opinions about BASEBALL, some which I agree with and some not. Not big deal. IMO he is a good poster who brings a lot to the table.
  25. You have been bullying him over and over again and he doesn't respond you. Don't you get it? he simply is not interested in what you say. Why don't you stop in the first place and let it go? Listen, I'm not trying to begin a war here man, but I just think we all can express our opinions while we respect each other. This is what a board is all about, express opinions. Jung is not insulting anyone. Think about it, this is simply a honest advise.
