    Yup. This is why the case method made so famous to arguably the best business school in this planet: Harvard Business School... and reason why a lot business schools have followed the same line around the world. In the end the guy who make the calls take all the information available (tangible and intangible) in order to make the "best" decision for his team. In the end every decision is subjective.

    It's not questionable or trickier. The results are out there. The talent, specially at pitching is not there. There's no way to sugar coat it. The plan, execution and results suck. As jcko said, they need to rebuild the FO, immediately.

    I really doubt. They do not like to spend in this type of guys. Look what happened with Lester and his contract won't be even close. They love guys like Porcello and Miley.

    They should have waited a dozen of starts or something before giving him that contract. He only has 1 "good" year. One. That extension was very dumb.

    When you see 2013 in the middle of those ugly years, what do you see? Do not take me wrong. I don't want to take away credit to anybody but to me the stars aligned that year. Most of the key players posted their best career numbers that year. Look at Koji, just for mention one. For every failure you will find excuses, conjectures, etc. but the fact is that this team has been run and managed very poorly... that sk, is and has been the main problem in this team. Said that, I always have seen in Porcello an untalented/mediocre(at best) pitcher, and his "youth" is not magically give him the talent that he never has had.

    To suspect? The underachievement across the last 3/4 is on the FO for bringing bad players like Porcello.

    Take away his worst and best years and you will find the answer. Also, I do not buy the "coaching evidence". What evidence are you talking about? I think that those "evidences" are opinions/conjectures at best. Lets face it, we gave 80 M to a 4.5 ERA pitcher who was expected to post an ERA under 4.... Thing that will not happen IMO given his career numbers after/before 2014.

    I'm done with the "good enough" pitching strategy. We need not 1 but 2 solid proven and durable arms, otherwise we are going to be dead last next year again. We also need 3 arms in the BP.

    Porcello and Miley are 4.5 ERA pitchers at best. Buch is DL resident. Owens has two solid starts but that's it, and while I like ERod, you do not build a rotation around him. We need at very least two solid proven arms.

    Well, it is called collateral damage haha. Probably we would have kept Cespedes as well.

    These are the kind of things that this org should do/prove. Not sure what in the hell is the plan moving forward. At least they should take something of this disaster. The more I see this FO, the more I think we need to rebuild this as soon as possible, and LL is not enough.
