When “rudimentary” stats like RBIs BA OBP and SLG are bad, your advanced stats are likely bad as well. That’s nothing but a cop out to sound you know the game. In big sample sizes “rudimentary” stats define a player as good as advanced stats, period. If you are a 200 hitter for 7 seasons you are likely not a good hitter. It’s that simple. Said that, all the hype on Anthony isn’t helping him. Right now he looks like a subpar player with durability concerns. Do I still believe he’s going to comeback? Absolutely. Yet, Is he a concern even this “early”? In my book he is. -
All I’m saying he’s officially a concern in my book since he is supposed to be “special.”

If Mayer stays healthy AND corrects some serious mental mistakes, his career could be interesting. The latter are 2 big IFs though.

My concern is his durability. He’s young yet he gets injured quite easy.

The front office believed in David Hamilton despite trading him to the Brewers. When he returned to Fenway in April and played well, the FO began to question the coaching staff’s developmental process with young guys: "Why do a lot of players go to other places and get better? Why do other guys come here and get worse?"

IMO Duran has a better glove than Anthony, and it’s not even close, and if he starts hitting why will you put Anthony in the OF mostly when he seems to be made of glass.

Cora had to go. This team had been playing very poor fundamentals for a while. The platoon nonsense had to stop. The lining up of your subpar buddies had to stop. The “we gotta do better” had to stop. The hitting coaches had to go as well. This team couldn’t hit to save their lives. Part of the cancer has been removed the way I see it. We needed fresh air. Breslow had to go as well and probably will in the offseason and maybe later through the season if things turn around very ugly. He’s just Henry’s puppet anyways. We have to deal with JH, unfortunately. I don’t see him selling the team unless the bottom line says the opposite and I don’t see that happening soon with all the pink hats out there.

Definitely! I wanted Marte or Bichette. I heard Arizona was looking for Bello and Mayer.

Agreed and That’s on Breslow. You just can’t put and expect a young man who hasn’t proven anything carry by himself a big market team like the Boston Red Sox.

Maybe it’s just me but the Anthony hype probably was just that, a hype. Hopefully he becomes what everybody is expecting but I don’t give it for granted. For instance he has to probe he is not fragile.
