  1. I favor the bottom scenario. We have money to spend thanks to the generosity of the Dodgers. We've spent a long time building up an awesome farm and I'd hate to see it get too depleted. That's why I'm all in favor of eating the lion's share of the cash and then giving Philly their choice of the WMB, Workman types.
  2. I'd say you won that exchange.
  3. It's just that we got bailed out by LA last year and have a really great future with all of our minor league talent and I don't want to weaken our farm for Cliff Lee, especially when you see how high the price is reported to be. I'd prefer to hang on to Garin, Bradley, Xander, Webster, Owens, and Barnes. The guys I'd be willing to let go are Ranaudo, WMB, Iggy, or Marrero types. I know that this wouldn't be enough which is why I'm fine with taken on all of the money if it means holding on to our prospects.
  4. That package would be a no go for me even if we got Philly to eat a big chunk of the money. I really am not willing to pick up Lee if it costs are more than what would amount to BC completely fleecing Amaro.
  5. Not a chance in hell. I'm, to be honest, hesitant to give up anything of value at all. I'm all for letting him stay in Philly if its going it cost us guys like Webster, Garin, or Barnes.
  6. This. Ben has to stick to his guns and not give up Xander. Cliff Lee is great but I'm not taking on 75 million dollars worth of late 30's starting pitcher in exchange for a guy who's looking like a potential super star while playing short stop. Just take a deep breath, Ben, and tell Amaro to go f*** himself into oblivion.
  7. Part of me wants to believe that it's a ploy and the other half is reminding me never to underestimate the stupidity of MLB executives.
  8. Apparently ChiSox has decided to hold onto Peavy.
  9. The Yankees. Now that they have the unstoppable awesomeness that is Derek Jeter back in the lineup, I can't see how anyone can stop the winning spirit and energy he brings to that ball club.
  10. I could live with that, I suppose. Those are some good names right there but losing them is insanely more preferable than seeing Garin, JBJ, Webster, or Xander in another uniform.
  11. I can see a lot of backlash towards such a move but I think it would be preferable to giving up top prospects. I don't think I'd like having to pay all of the money like the Dodgers did when they bailed us out last year but I'd be willing to eat a large bit of it if it meant holding on to our top minor league talent. I think it's an easier decision when you consider that we'd only be paying Lee for 3 seasons.
  12. I will personally campaign for the "Cherington's Head on A Stick Bandwagon" if we give in to Philly's asking price for Lee. I'd be okay with taking on his money, it is only 3 years, but if Amaro expects significant talent in return, he can just go f*** himself as far as I'm concerned.
  13. Hypothetical here. What would the opinion be on a deal that sent us Cliff Lee for less talent on the condition that we take Papelbon's contract on as well? We take on a good chunk of the money and in exchange, we give up less in the talent department.
  14. You know hell has frozen over when right handed salty gets a hit.
  15. I think my avatar got axed or some s*** when the site went down a while ago and I've just been too lazy to fix it.
  16. How does the game thread work if its postponed? Does the same person make it for the next game?
  17. I've got no problem with Clay taking his time to get back. I think we have enough talent to keep afloat until he's ready to pitch again.
  18. Every time Luke Scott makes an out, the baby Jesus smiles.
  19. Lets go Doubie. Keep the hot streak going
  20. Lester's line looks pretty damn good so far. It'd be a huge win if he could get himself together and start pitching to his ability down the stretch.
  21. Not sure where else to put this but apparently Clay's visit with Dr. Andrews went well and he's now more willing to pitch with discomfort. It seems confirmed that there's no structural damage to Clay's shoulder
  22. Screw everybody! We're winning the World Series this year!
  23. I just bashed my knee into the table jumping up to celebrate. Motherf*** it hurts so good!
  24. Well, I have a meeting to keep so ill be bowing out now. Do not lose this f***ing game
  25. I honestly think we can shut this lineup out purely by throwing everyone who isn't Cano fastballs down the pipe. They're that bad and we're walking them all over the place
