  1. another set back for pettitte today. with the rotations that the yankees and rays are running out there right now, this division is wide open
  2. just win and hopefull we can pick up a game on tampa and/or new york
  3. i've said this before but some proponents for trading ellsbury haven't acknowledged it. why would a small market team want a player like ellsbury who will be going to arbitration the next 3 years and then will be a free agent when they could acquire multiple other players who are both cost controlled and under team control long term instead?
  4. i can't help but picture jm in a hitler costume screaming "the allies will not win this war! we are superior!" every time he refuses to acknowledge that a team that's only 4 games out of a playoff spot is not out of contention
  5. i said this before when the rangers acquired cliff lee, but i think they're the best team in baseball. they're 5th in the majors in runs and hamilton didn't do anything the first 2 months of the year. and their rotation is ridiculous lee - 2.57 era wilson - 3.30 era lewis - 3.37 era hunter - 3.01 era harden - 5.45 era
  6. i think a lot of people will be surprised if ranaudo doesn't sign. i don't see the $5-$8 million it would cost to sign him being an issue for the red sox
  7. talented players, but i think i'd rather go with more proven bullpen arms
  8. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2010/08/draft_deadline.html i don't usually quote this much of an article, but there's a lot of information in this one
  9. i wasn't going to be the one to say anything because sports threads rarely turn out well when they get into politics, but i had the same reaction in my head
  10. what do you guys think, is this the nail in the coffin for the royals?
  11. yankees win. it wasn't pretty but it may have been good for them to get robertson in that kind of a high pressure situation to get him mentally ready for a playoff atmosphere
  12. what was your team?
  13. jason kendall's up now. game over
  14. things are interesting now, only a 1 run game and the royals have one of their decent hitters up
  15. gotcha. is anyone warming up behind robertson?
  16. why's that? i'm following on gameday
  17. he looked pretty sharp. even the home run he gave up was on a pitcher's pitch i'm not saying he's the next mariano or anything. i'm just saying it was an exciting appearance from him
  18. 1. rivera 2. papelbon 3. soria EDIT: just checking to see if anyone was still in the thread
  19. you know you're a basement dweller when you bring your closer into games where you're down 3 runs
  20. kila the fightin' hawaiin comes up representing the tying run and he... dribbles one back to the pitcher. i can hardly stand the excitement
